By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

And there are three that bear witness in earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.

If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.

He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.

He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13 Ταῦτα — Ταῦτα These-things ἔγραψα — ἔγραψα I-wrote ὑμῖν — ὑμῖν to-you ἵνα — ἵνα that εἰδῆτε — εἰδῆτε you-may-know ὅτι — ὅτι that ζωὴν — ζωὴν life ἔχετε — ἔχετε you-have αἰώνιον, — αἰώνιον, eternal τοῖς — τοῖς to-the-ones πιστεύουσιν — πιστεύουσιν believing εἰς — εἰς in τὸ — τὸ the ὄνομα — ὄνομα name τοῦ — τοῦ of-the Υἱοῦ — Υἱοῦ Son τοῦ — τοῦ of-the Θεοῦ, — Θεοῦ, God <καὶ — <καὶ and– ἵνα — ἵνα that πιστεύητε — πιστεύητε you-may-believe εἰς — εἰς in τὸ — τὸ the ὄνομα — ὄνομα name τοῦ — τοῦ of-the υἱοῦ — υἱοῦ Son τοῦ — τοῦ of-the θεοῦ>. — θεοῦ>. These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
14 Καὶ — Καὶ And– αὕτη — αὕτη this ἐστὶν — ἐστὶν is ἡ — ἡ the παρρησία — παρρησία boldness ἣν — ἣν which ἔχομεν — ἔχομεν we-have πρὸς — πρὸς toward αὐτόν, — αὐτόν, Him ὅτι — ὅτι that ἐάν — ἐάν if τι — τι anything αἰτώμεθα — αἰτώμεθα we-ask κατὰ — κατὰ according-to τὸ — τὸ the θέλημα — θέλημα will αὐτοῦ, — αὐτοῦ, of-Him ἀκούει — ἀκούει He-hears ἡμῶν. — ἡμῶν. us
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15 καὶ — καὶ and– ἐὰν — ἐὰν if οἴδαμεν — οἴδαμεν we-know ὅτι — ὅτι that ἀκούει — ἀκούει He-hears ἡμῶν, — ἡμῶν, us ὃ — ὃ whatever ἐὰν — ἐὰν – αἰτώμεθα, — αἰτώμεθα, we-ask οἴδαμεν — οἴδαμεν we-know ὅτι — ὅτι that ἔχομεν — ἔχομεν we-have τὰ — τὰ the αἰτήματα — αἰτήματα requests ἃ — ἃ which ᾐτήκαμεν — ᾐτήκαμεν we-have-asked ἀπ’ — ἀπ’ from αὐτοῦ. — αὐτοῦ. Him
And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
16 Ἐάν — Ἐάν If τις — τις anyone ἴδῃ — ἴδῃ sees τὸν — τὸν the ἀδελφὸν — ἀδελφὸν brother αὐτοῦ — αὐτοῦ of-him ἁμαρτάνοντα — ἁμαρτάνοντα sinning ἁμαρτίαν — ἁμαρτίαν a-sin μὴ — μὴ not πρὸς — πρὸς unto θάνατον, — θάνατον, death αἰτήσει, — αἰτήσει, he-will-ask καὶ — καὶ and– δώσει — δώσει He-will-give αὐτῷ — αὐτῷ to-him ζωήν -- — ζωήν -- life τοῖς — τοῖς to-the-ones ἁμαρτάνουσιν — ἁμαρτάνουσιν sinning μὴ — μὴ not πρὸς — πρὸς unto θάνατον. — θάνατον. death ἔστιν — ἔστιν there-is ἁμαρτία — ἁμαρτία a-sin πρὸς — πρὸς unto θάνατον; — θάνατον; death οὐ — οὐ not περὶ — περὶ concerning ἐκείνης — ἐκείνης that λέγω — λέγω I-say ἵνα — ἵνα that ἐρωτήσῃ. — ἐρωτήσῃ. he-should-ask
If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
17 πᾶσα — πᾶσα all ἀδικία — ἀδικία unrighteousness ἁμαρτία — ἁμαρτία sin ἐστίν; — ἐστίν; is καὶ — καὶ and– ἔστιν — ἔστιν there-is ἁμαρτία — ἁμαρτία sin οὐ — οὐ not πρὸς — πρὸς unto θάνατον. — θάνατον. death
All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
18 Οἴδαμεν — Οἴδαμεν We-know ὅτι — ὅτι that πᾶς — πᾶς everyone ὁ — ὁ the-one γεγεννημένος — γεγεννημένος having-been-born ἐκ — ἐκ from τοῦ — τοῦ the Θεοῦ — Θεοῦ God οὐχ — οὐχ not ἁμαρτάνει, — ἁμαρτάνει, sins ἀλλ’ — ἀλλ’ but ὁ — ὁ the-one γεννηθεὶς — γεννηθεὶς having-been-born ἐκ — ἐκ from τοῦ — τοῦ the Θεοῦ — Θεοῦ God τηρεῖ — τηρεῖ keeps αὐτόν, — αὐτόν, him καὶ — καὶ and– ὁ — ὁ the πονηρὸς — πονηρὸς evil-one οὐχ — οὐχ not ἅπτεται — ἅπτεται touches αὐτοῦ. — αὐτοῦ. him
We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
19 οἴδαμεν — οἴδαμεν we-know ὅτι — ὅτι that ἐκ — ἐκ from τοῦ — τοῦ the Θεοῦ — Θεοῦ God ἐσμεν, — ἐσμεν, we-are καὶ — καὶ and– ὁ — ὁ the κόσμος — κόσμος world ὅλος, — ὅλος, whole ἐν — ἐν in τῷ — τῷ the πονηρῷ — πονηρῷ evil-one κεῖται. — κεῖται. lies
And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
20 οἴδαμεν — οἴδαμεν we-know δὲ — δὲ but– ὅτι — ὅτι that ὁ — ὁ the Υἱὸς — Υἱὸς Son τοῦ — τοῦ of-the Θεοῦ — Θεοῦ God ἥκει, — ἥκει, has-come καὶ — καὶ and– δέδωκεν — δέδωκεν has-given ἡμῖν — ἡμῖν to-us διάνοιαν, — διάνοιαν, understanding ἵνα — ἵνα that γινώσκωμεν — γινώσκωμεν we-may-know τὸν — τὸν the ἀληθινόν; — ἀληθινόν; true-one καὶ — καὶ and– ἐσμὲν — ἐσμὲν we-are ἐν — ἐν in τῷ — τῷ the ἀληθινῷ, — ἀληθινῷ, true-one ἐν — ἐν in τῷ — τῷ the Υἱῷ — Υἱῷ Son αὐτοῦ, — αὐτοῦ, of-Him Ἰησοῦ — Ἰησοῦ Iēsous Χριστῷ. — Χριστῷ. Christos οὗτός — οὗτός this-one ἐστιν — ἐστιν is ὁ — ὁ the ἀληθινὸς — ἀληθινὸς true Θεὸς, — Θεὸς, God καὶ — καὶ and– ζωὴ — ζωὴ life αἰώνιος. — αἰώνιος. eternal
And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
21 Τεκνία, — Τεκνία, Little-children φυλάξατε — φυλάξατε guard ἑαυτὰ — ἑαυτὰ yourselves ἀπὸ — ἀπὸ from τῶν — τῶν the εἰδώλων. — εἰδώλων. idols <Ἀμήν> — <Ἀμήν> Amen
Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
