Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,

That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;

God
Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.
5 Οὐ — Οὐ not μνημονεύετε — μνημονεύετε you–remember ὅτι, — ὅτι, that ἔτι — ἔτι still ὢν — ὢν being πρὸς — πρὸς with ὑμᾶς, — ὑμᾶς, you ταῦτα — ταῦτα these ἔλεγον — ἔλεγον I–was–telling ὑμῖν? — ὑμῖν? you
Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
6 καὶ — καὶ and– νῦν — νῦν now τὸ — τὸ the κατέχον, — κατέχον, restraining οἴδατε, — οἴδατε, you–know εἰς — εἰς for τὸ — τὸ the ἀποκαλυφθῆναι — ἀποκαλυφθῆναι to–be–revealed αὐτὸν — αὐτὸν him ἐν — ἐν in τῷ — τῷ the ἑαυτοῦ — ἑαυτοῦ of–himself καιρῷ. — καιρῷ. time
And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
7 τὸ — τὸ the γὰρ — γὰρ for– μυστήριον, — μυστήριον, mystery ἤδη — ἤδη already ἐνεργεῖται, — ἐνεργεῖται, is–working τῆς — τῆς of–the ἀνομίας; — ἀνομίας; lawlessness μόνον — μόνον only ὁ — ὁ the κατέχων — κατέχων restraining ἄρτι — ἄρτι now ἕως — ἕως until ἐκ — ἐκ out–of μέσου — μέσου midst γένηται. — γένηται. he–becomes
For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.
8 καὶ — καὶ and– τότε — τότε then ἀποκαλυφθήσεται — ἀποκαλυφθήσεται will–be–revealed ὁ — ὁ the ἄνομος, — ἄνομος, lawless–one ὃν — ὃν whom ὁ — ὁ the Κύριος — Κύριος Lord Ἰησοῦς — Ἰησοῦς Iēsous ἀνελεῖ — ἀνελεῖ will–slay τῷ — τῷ by–the πνεύματι — πνεύματι breath τοῦ — τοῦ of–the στόματος — στόματος mouth αὐτοῦ, — αὐτοῦ, of–him καὶ — καὶ and– καταργήσει — καταργήσει will–destroy τῇ — τῇ by–the ἐπιφανείᾳ — ἐπιφανείᾳ appearance τῆς — τῆς of–the παρουσίας — παρουσίας presence αὐτοῦ; — αὐτοῦ; of–him
And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
9 οὗ — οὗ of–whom ἐστιν — ἐστιν is ἡ — ἡ the παρουσία, — παρουσία, presence κατ’ — κατ’ according–to ἐνέργειαν — ἐνέργειαν working τοῦ — τοῦ of–the Σατανᾶ, — Σατανᾶ, Satan ἐν — ἐν in πάσῃ — πάσῃ all δυνάμει, — δυνάμει, power καὶ — καὶ and– σημείοις, — σημείοις, signs καὶ — καὶ and– τέρασιν — τέρασιν wonders ψεύδους, — ψεύδους, of–falsehood
Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
10 καὶ — καὶ and– ἐν — ἐν in πάσῃ — πάσῃ all ἀπάτῃ — ἀπάτῃ deceit ἀδικίας, — ἀδικίας, of–unrighteousness τοῖς — τοῖς for–the ἀπολλυμένοις, — ἀπολλυμένοις, perishing ἀνθ’ — ἀνθ’ because ὧν — ὧν of–which τὴν — τὴν the ἀγάπην — ἀγάπην love τῆς — τῆς of–the ἀληθείας — ἀληθείας truth οὐκ — οὐκ not ἐδέξαντο, — ἐδέξαντο, they–received εἰς — εἰς for τὸ — τὸ the σωθῆναι — σωθῆναι to–be–saved αὐτούς. — αὐτούς. them
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
11 καὶ — καὶ and– διὰ — διὰ because–of τοῦτο — τοῦτο this πέμπει — πέμπει sends αὐτοῖς — αὐτοῖς to–them ὁ — ὁ the Θεὸς — Θεὸς God ἐνέργειαν — ἐνέργειαν working πλάνης, — πλάνης, of–delusion εἰς — εἰς for τὸ — τὸ the πιστεῦσαι — πιστεῦσαι to–believe αὐτοὺς — αὐτοὺς them τῷ — τῷ the ψεύδει; — ψεύδει; lie
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
12 ἵνα — ἵνα that κριθῶσιν — κριθῶσιν may–be–judged πάντες — πάντες all οἱ — οἱ the μὴ — μὴ not πιστεύσαντες — πιστεύσαντες having–believed τῇ — τῇ the ἀληθείᾳ, — ἀληθείᾳ, truth ἀλλὰ — ἀλλὰ but– εὐδοκήσαντες — εὐδοκήσαντες having–delighted τῇ — τῇ in–the ἀδικίᾳ. — ἀδικίᾳ. unrighteousness
That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
13 Ἡμεῖς — Ἡμεῖς we δὲ — δὲ but– ὀφείλομεν — ὀφείλομεν ought εὐχαριστεῖν — εὐχαριστεῖν to–give–thanks τῷ — τῷ to–the Θεῷ — Θεῷ God πάντοτε — πάντοτε always περὶ — περὶ concerning ὑμῶν, — ὑμῶν, you ἀδελφοὶ — ἀδελφοὶ brothers ἠγαπημένοι — ἠγαπημένοι having–been–loved ὑπὸ — ὑπὸ by Κυρίου, — Κυρίου, Lord ὅτι — ὅτι because εἵλατο — εἵλατο chose ὑμᾶς — ὑμᾶς you ὁ — ὁ the Θεὸς, — Θεὸς, God ἀπ᾽‿ — ἀπ᾽‿ from ἀρχῆς, — ἀρχῆς, beginning εἰς — εἰς for σωτηρίαν — σωτηρίαν salvation ἐν — ἐν in ἁγιασμῷ — ἁγιασμῷ sanctification Πνεύματος, — Πνεύματος, of–Spirit καὶ — καὶ and– πίστει — πίστει faith ἀληθείας; — ἀληθείας; of–truth
But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
14 εἰς — εἰς for ὃ — ὃ which καὶ — καὶ also– ἐκάλεσεν — ἐκάλεσεν he–called ὑμᾶς, — ὑμᾶς, you διὰ — διὰ through τοῦ — τοῦ the εὐαγγελίου — εὐαγγελίου good–news ἡμῶν, — ἡμῶν, of–us εἰς — εἰς for περιποίησιν — περιποίησιν obtaining δόξης — δόξης of–glory τοῦ — τοῦ of–the Κυρίου — Κυρίου Lord ἡμῶν, — ἡμῶν, of–us Ἰησοῦ — Ἰησοῦ Iēsous Χριστοῦ. — Χριστοῦ. Christos
Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
15 Ἄρα — Ἄρα then οὖν, — οὖν, therefore– ἀδελφοί, — ἀδελφοί, brothers στήκετε, — στήκετε, stand–firm καὶ — καὶ and– κρατεῖτε — κρατεῖτε hold–fast τὰς — τὰς the παραδόσεις — παραδόσεις traditions ἃς — ἃς which ἐδιδάχθητε, — ἐδιδάχθητε, you–were–taught εἴτε — εἴτε whether διὰ — διὰ by λόγου, — λόγου, word εἴτε — εἴτε whether δι’ — δι’ by ἐπιστολῆς — ἐπιστολῆς letter ἡμῶν. — ἡμῶν. of–us
Therefore, brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word, or our epistle.
16 Αὐτὸς — Αὐτὸς himself δὲ — δὲ now– ὁ — ὁ the Κύριος — Κύριος Lord ἡμῶν, — ἡμῶν, of–us Ἰησοῦς — Ἰησοῦς Iēsous Χριστὸς, — Χριστὸς, Christos καὶ — καὶ and– ὁ — ὁ the Θεὸς, — Θεὸς, God ὁ — ὁ the Πατὴρ — Πατὴρ Father ἡμῶν, — ἡμῶν, of–us ὁ — ὁ the ἀγαπήσας — ἀγαπήσας having–loved ἡμᾶς, — ἡμᾶς, us καὶ — καὶ and– δοὺς — δοὺς having–given παράκλησιν — παράκλησιν encouragement αἰωνίαν, — αἰωνίαν, eternal καὶ — καὶ and– ἐλπίδα — ἐλπίδα hope ἀγαθὴν — ἀγαθὴν good ἐν — ἐν in χάριτι, — χάριτι, grace
Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace,
17 παρακαλέσαι — παρακαλέσαι may–encourage ὑμῶν — ὑμῶν of–you τὰς — τὰς the καρδίας, — καρδίας, hearts καὶ — καὶ and– στηρίξαι — στηρίξαι may–establish ἐν — ἐν in παντὶ — παντὶ every ἔργῳ — ἔργῳ work καὶ — καὶ and– λόγῳ — λόγῳ word ἀγαθῷ. — ἀγαθῷ. good
Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.
