Grace be with you, mercy, and peace, from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love.

Father
I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.
6 καὶ — καὶ and– αὕτη — αὕτη this ἐστὶν — ἐστὶν is ἡ — ἡ the ἀγάπη, — ἀγάπη, love ἵνα — ἵνα that περιπατῶμεν — περιπατῶμεν we–should–walk κατὰ — κατὰ according–to τὰς — τὰς the ἐντολὰς — ἐντολὰς commandments αὐτοῦ. — αὐτοῦ. of–Him αὕτη — αὕτη this ἡ — ἡ the ἐντολή — ἐντολή commandment ἐστιν — ἐστιν is καθὼς, — καθὼς, just–as ἠκούσατε — ἠκούσατε you–heard ἀπ’ — ἀπ’ from ἀρχῆς, — ἀρχῆς, beginning ἵνα — ἵνα that ἐν — ἐν in αὐτῇ — αὐτῇ it περιπατῆτε. — περιπατῆτε. you–should–walk
And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it.
7 ὅτι — ὅτι because πολλοὶ — πολλοὶ many πλάνοι — πλάνοι deceivers ἐξῆλθον — ἐξῆλθον went–out εἰς — εἰς into τὸν — τὸν the κόσμον, — κόσμον, world οἱ — οἱ the–ones μὴ — μὴ not ὁμολογοῦντες — ὁμολογοῦντες confessing Ἰησοῦν — Ἰησοῦν Iēsous Χριστὸν — Χριστὸν Christos ἐρχόμενον — ἐρχόμενον coming ἐν — ἐν in σαρκί. — σαρκί. flesh οὗτός — οὗτός this ἐστιν — ἐστιν is ὁ — ὁ the πλάνος — πλάνος deceiver καὶ — καὶ and– ὁ — ὁ the ἀντίχριστος. — ἀντίχριστος. antichrist
For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
8 βλέπετε — βλέπετε watch ἑαυτούς, — ἑαυτούς, yourselves ἵνα — ἵνα that μὴ — μὴ not ἀπολέσητε — ἀπολέσητε you–lose ἃ — ἃ what εἰργασάμεθα, — εἰργασάμεθα, we–worked ἀλλὰ — ἀλλὰ but– μισθὸν — μισθὸν reward πλήρη — πλήρη full ἀπολάβητε. — ἀπολάβητε. you–receive
Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.

Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
10 εἴ — εἴ if τις — τις anyone ἔρχεται — ἔρχεται comes πρὸς — πρὸς to ὑμᾶς, — ὑμᾶς, you καὶ — καὶ and– ταύτην — ταύτην this τὴν — τὴν the διδαχὴν — διδαχὴν teaching οὐ — οὐ not φέρει, — φέρει, brings μὴ — μὴ not λαμβάνετε — λαμβάνετε receive αὐτὸν — αὐτὸν him εἰς — εἰς into οἰκίαν, — οἰκίαν, house καὶ — καὶ and– χαίρειν — χαίρειν greetings αὐτῷ — αὐτῷ to–him μὴ — μὴ not λέγετε; — λέγετε; say
If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
11 ὁ — ὁ the–one λέγων — λέγων saying γὰρ — γὰρ for– αὐτῷ — αὐτῷ to–him χαίρειν — χαίρειν greetings κοινωνεῖ — κοινωνεῖ shares τοῖς — τοῖς in–the ἔργοις — ἔργοις works αὐτοῦ — αὐτοῦ of–him τοῖς — τοῖς the πονηροῖς. — πονηροῖς. evil
For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.
12 Πολλὰ — Πολλὰ Many–things ἔχων — ἔχων having ὑμῖν — ὑμῖν to–you γράφειν, — γράφειν, to–write οὐκ — οὐκ not ἐβουλήθην — ἐβουλήθην I–wanted διὰ — διὰ through χάρτου — χάρτου paper καὶ — καὶ and– μέλανος; — μέλανος; ink ἀλλὰ — ἀλλὰ but– ἐλπίζω — ἐλπίζω I–hope γενέσθαι — γενέσθαι to–come πρὸς — πρὸς to ὑμᾶς, — ὑμᾶς, you καὶ — καὶ and– στόμα — στόμα mouth πρὸς — πρὸς to στόμα — στόμα mouth λαλῆσαι, — λαλῆσαι, to–speak ἵνα — ἵνα that ἡ — ἡ the χαρὰ — χαρὰ joy ἡμῶν — ἡμῶν of–us πεπληρωμένη — πεπληρωμένη fulfilled ᾖ. — ᾖ. may–be
Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink: but I trust to come unto you, and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.
13 Ἀσπάζεταί — Ἀσπάζεταί Greet σε, — σε, you τὰ — τὰ the τέκνα — τέκνα children τῆς — τῆς of–the ἀδελφῆς — ἀδελφῆς sister σου — σου of–you τῆς — τῆς the ἐκλεκτῆς. — ἐκλεκτῆς. elect <Ἀμήν> — <Ἀμήν> Amen
The children of thy elect sister greet thee. Amen.
