Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
4 δι’ — δι’ through– ὧν — ὧν which τὰ — τὰ the τίμια — τίμια precious καὶ — καὶ and– μέγιστα — μέγιστα greatest ἡμῖν — ἡμῖν to–us ἐπαγγέλματα — ἐπαγγέλματα promises δεδώρηται, — δεδώρηται, have-been-granted ἵνα — ἵνα that– διὰ — διὰ through– τούτων — τούτων these γένησθε — γένησθε you-might-become θείας — θείας of–divine κοινωνοὶ — κοινωνοὶ sharers φύσεως, — φύσεως, nature ἀποφυγόντες — ἀποφυγόντες having-escaped τῆς — τῆς the ἐν — ἐν in– τῷ — τῷ the κόσμῳ — κόσμῳ world ἐν — ἐν in– ἐπιθυμίᾳ, — ἐπιθυμίᾳ, desire φθορᾶς. — φθορᾶς. corruption
Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 ἐν — ἐν in– δὲ — δὲ and– τῇ — τῇ the γνώσει, — γνώσει, knowledge τὴν — τὴν the ἐγκράτειαν; — ἐγκράτειαν; self-control ἐν — ἐν in– δὲ — δὲ and– τῇ — τῇ the ἐγκρατείᾳ, — ἐγκρατείᾳ, self-control τὴν — τὴν the ὑπομονήν; — ὑπομονήν; endurance ἐν — ἐν in– δὲ — δὲ and– τῇ — τῇ the ὑπομονῇ, — ὑπομονῇ, endurance τὴν — τὴν the εὐσέβειαν; — εὐσέβειαν; godliness
And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 ἐν — ἐν in– δὲ — δὲ and– τῇ — τῇ the εὐσεβείᾳ, — εὐσεβείᾳ, godliness τὴν — τὴν the φιλαδελφίαν; — φιλαδελφίαν; brotherly-love ἐν — ἐν in– δὲ — δὲ and– τῇ — τῇ the φιλαδελφίᾳ, — φιλαδελφίᾳ, brotherly-love τὴν — τὴν the ἀγάπην. — ἀγάπην. love
And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 ταῦτα — ταῦτα these-things γὰρ — γὰρ for– ὑμῖν — ὑμῖν in–you ὑπάρχοντα — ὑπάρχοντα existing καὶ — καὶ and– πλεονάζοντα, — πλεονάζοντα, increasing οὐκ — οὐκ not– ἀργοὺς — ἀργοὺς idle οὐδὲ — οὐδὲ nor– ἀκάρπους — ἀκάρπους unfruitful καθίστησιν, — καθίστησιν, make εἰς — εἰς into– τὴν — τὴν the τοῦ — τοῦ of–the Κυρίου — Κυρίου Lord ἡμῶν, — ἡμῶν, of–us Ἰησοῦ — Ἰησοῦ Iēsou Χριστοῦ, — Χριστοῦ, Christou ἐπίγνωσιν; — ἐπίγνωσιν; knowledge
For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 ᾧ — ᾧ to–whom γὰρ — γὰρ for– μὴ — μὴ not– πάρεστιν — πάρεστιν is-present ταῦτα, — ταῦτα, these-things τυφλός — τυφλός blind ἐστιν, — ἐστιν, he-is μυωπάζων, — μυωπάζων, being-shortsighted λήθην — λήθην forgetfulness λαβὼν — λαβὼν having-received τοῦ — τοῦ of–the καθαρισμοῦ — καθαρισμοῦ cleansing τῶν — τῶν of–the πάλαι — πάλαι of–old αὐτοῦ — αὐτοῦ of–him ἁμαρτιῶν. — ἁμαρτιῶν. sins
But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
10 διὸ — διὸ therefore– μᾶλλον, — μᾶλλον, rather ἀδελφοί, — ἀδελφοί, brothers σπουδάσατε, — σπουδάσατε, be-diligent βεβαίαν — βεβαίαν firm ὑμῶν — ὑμῶν of–you τὴν — τὴν the κλῆσιν — κλῆσιν calling καὶ — καὶ and– ἐκλογὴν — ἐκλογὴν election ποιεῖσθαι, — ποιεῖσθαι, to-make ταῦτα — ταῦτα these-things γὰρ — γὰρ for– ποιοῦντες — ποιοῦντες doing οὐ — οὐ not– μὴ — μὴ not– πταίσητέ — πταίσητέ you-will-stumble ποτε. — ποτε. ever
Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:
11 οὕτως — οὕτως thus– γὰρ — γὰρ for– πλουσίως — πλουσίως richly ἐπιχορηγηθήσεται — ἐπιχορηγηθήσεται will-be-supplied ὑμῖν — ὑμῖν to–you ἡ — ἡ the εἴσοδος — εἴσοδος entrance εἰς — εἰς into– τὴν — τὴν the αἰώνιον — αἰώνιον eternal βασιλείαν — βασιλείαν kingdom τοῦ — τοῦ of–the Κυρίου — Κυρίου Lord ἡμῶν, — ἡμῶν, of–us καὶ — καὶ and– Σωτῆρος, — Σωτῆρος, Savior Ἰησοῦ — Ἰησοῦ Iēsou Χριστοῦ. — Χριστοῦ. Christou
For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
12 Διὸ — Διὸ therefore– μελλήσω — μελλήσω I-will-be-ready ἀεὶ — ἀεὶ always ὑμᾶς, — ὑμᾶς, you ὑπομιμνῄσκειν — ὑπομιμνῄσκειν to-remind περὶ — περὶ concerning– τούτων, — τούτων, these-things καίπερ — καίπερ although– εἰδότας — εἰδότας knowing καὶ — καὶ and– ἐστηριγμένους — ἐστηριγμένους having-been-established ἐν — ἐν in– τῇ — τῇ the παρούσῃ — παρούσῃ present ἀληθείᾳ. — ἀληθείᾳ. truth
Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth.
13 δίκαιον — δίκαιον right δὲ — δὲ and– ἡγοῦμαι, — ἡγοῦμαι, I-consider ἐφ’ — ἐφ’ for– ὅσον — ὅσον as-long-as εἰμὶ — εἰμὶ I-am ἐν — ἐν in– τούτῳ — τούτῳ this τῷ — τῷ the σκηνώματι, — σκηνώματι, tent διεγείρειν — διεγείρειν to-stir-up ὑμᾶς — ὑμᾶς you ἐν — ἐν by– ὑπομνήσει; — ὑπομνήσει; reminder
Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;
14 εἰδὼς — εἰδὼς knowing ὅτι — ὅτι that– ταχινή — ταχινή swift ἐστιν — ἐστιν is ἡ — ἡ the ἀπόθεσις — ἀπόθεσις putting-off τοῦ — τοῦ of–the σκηνώματός — σκηνώματός tent μου, — μου, of–me καθὼς — καθὼς just-as– καὶ — καὶ also– ὁ — ὁ the Κύριος — Κύριος Lord ἡμῶν, — ἡμῶν, of–us Ἰησοῦς — Ἰησοῦς Iēsous Χριστὸς, — Χριστὸς, Christos ἐδήλωσέν — ἐδήλωσέν made-clear μοι; — μοι; to–me
Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.
15 σπουδάσω — σπουδάσω I-will-be-diligent δὲ — δὲ and– καὶ — καὶ also– ἑκάστοτε, — ἑκάστοτε, at-each-time ἔχειν — ἔχειν to-have ὑμᾶς — ὑμᾶς you μετὰ — μετὰ after– τὴν — τὴν the ἐμὴν — ἐμὴν my ἔξοδον, — ἔξοδον, departure τὴν — τὴν the τούτων — τούτων of–these-things μνήμην — μνήμην remembrance ποιεῖσθαι. — ποιεῖσθαι. to-make
Moreover I will endeavour that ye may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.
16 οὐ — οὐ not– γὰρ — γὰρ for– σεσοφισμένοις — σεσοφισμένοις cleverly-devised μύθοις — μύθοις myths ἐξακολουθήσαντες, — ἐξακολουθήσαντες, having-followed ἐγνωρίσαμεν — ἐγνωρίσαμεν we-made-known ὑμῖν — ὑμῖν to–you τὴν — τὴν the τοῦ — τοῦ of–the Κυρίου — Κυρίου Lord ἡμῶν, — ἡμῶν, of–us Ἰησοῦ — Ἰησοῦ Iēsou Χριστοῦ, — Χριστοῦ, Christou δύναμιν — δύναμιν power καὶ — καὶ and– παρουσίαν; — παρουσίαν; coming ἀλλ’ — ἀλλ’ but– ἐπόπται — ἐπόπται eyewitnesses γενηθέντες — γενηθέντες having-become τῆς — τῆς of–the ἐκείνου — ἐκείνου of–that-one μεγαλειότητος. — μεγαλειότητος. majesty
For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
17 λαβὼν — λαβὼν having-received γὰρ — γὰρ for– παρὰ — παρὰ from– Θεοῦ — Θεοῦ God Πατρὸς — Πατρὸς Father τιμὴν — τιμὴν honor καὶ — καὶ and– δόξαν, — δόξαν, glory φωνῆς — φωνῆς of–voice ἐνεχθείσης — ἐνεχθείσης having-been-brought αὐτῷ, — αὐτῷ, to–him τοιᾶσδε — τοιᾶσδε such ὑπὸ — ὑπὸ by– τῆς — τῆς the μεγαλοπρεποῦς — μεγαλοπρεποῦς majestic δόξης: — δόξης: glory Ὁ — Ὁ the Υἱός — Υἱός Son μου, — μου, of–me ὁ — ὁ the ἀγαπητός — ἀγαπητός beloved μου, — μου, of–me οὗτός — οὗτός this ἐστιν, — ἐστιν, is εἰς — εἰς in– ὃν — ὃν whom ἐγὼ — ἐγὼ I εὐδόκησα. — εὐδόκησα. was-well-pleased
For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
18 καὶ — καὶ and– ταύτην — ταύτην this τὴν — τὴν the φωνὴν — φωνὴν voice ἡμεῖς — ἡμεῖς we ἠκούσαμεν — ἠκούσαμεν heard ἐξ — ἐξ from– οὐρανοῦ, — οὐρανοῦ, heaven ἐνεχθεῖσαν — ἐνεχθεῖσαν having-been-brought σὺν — σὺν with– αὐτῷ, — αὐτῷ, him ὄντες — ὄντες being ἐν — ἐν on– τῷ — τῷ the ἁγίῳ — ἁγίῳ holy ὄρει. — ὄρει. mountain
And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
19 καὶ — καὶ and– ἔχομεν — ἔχομεν we-have βεβαιότερον — βεβαιότερον more-firm τὸν — τὸν the προφητικὸν — προφητικὸν prophetic λόγον, — λόγον, word ᾧ — ᾧ to–which καλῶς — καλῶς well ποιεῖτε — ποιεῖτε you-do προσέχοντες, — προσέχοντες, paying-attention ὡς — ὡς as– λύχνῳ — λύχνῳ to–lamp φαίνοντι — φαίνοντι shining ἐν — ἐν in– αὐχμηρῷ — αὐχμηρῷ dark τόπῳ, — τόπῳ, place ἕως — ἕως until– οὗ — οὗ which ἡμέρα — ἡμέρα day διαυγάσῃ, — διαυγάσῃ, dawns καὶ — καὶ and– φωσφόρος — φωσφόρος morning-star ἀνατείλῃ — ἀνατείλῃ rises ἐν — ἐν in– ταῖς — ταῖς the καρδίαις — καρδίαις hearts ὑμῶν; — ὑμῶν; of–you
We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
20 τοῦτο — τοῦτο this πρῶτον — πρῶτον first γινώσκοντες, — γινώσκοντες, knowing ὅτι — ὅτι that– πᾶσα — πᾶσα every προφητεία — προφητεία prophecy γραφῆς — γραφῆς of–Scripture ἰδίας — ἰδίας of–own ἐπιλύσεως — ἐπιλύσεως interpretation οὐ — οὐ not– γίνεται. — γίνεται. becomes
Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
21 οὐ — οὐ not– γὰρ — γὰρ for– θελήματι — θελήματι by–will ἀνθρώπου — ἀνθρώπου of–man ἠνέχθη — ἠνέχθη was-brought προφητεία — προφητεία prophecy ποτέ, — ποτέ, ever ἀλλὰ — ἀλλὰ but– ὑπὸ — ὑπὸ by– Πνεύματος — Πνεύματος Spirit Ἁγίου — Ἁγίου Holy φερόμενοι, — φερόμενοι, being-carried ἐλάλησαν — ἐλάλησαν spoke ἀπὸ — ἀπὸ from– Θεοῦ — Θεοῦ God ἄνθρωποι. — ἄνθρωποι. men
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
