This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2 ἔσονται — ἔσονται will–be γὰρ — γὰρ for– οἱ — οἱ the ἄνθρωποι — ἄνθρωποι men φίλαυτοι, — φίλαυτοι, lovers–of–self φιλάργυροι, — φιλάργυροι, lovers–of–money ἀλαζόνες, — ἀλαζόνες, boasters ὑπερήφανοι, — ὑπερήφανοι, arrogant βλάσφημοι, — βλάσφημοι, blasphemers γονεῦσιν — γονεῦσιν to–parents ἀπειθεῖς, — ἀπειθεῖς, disobedient ἀχάριστοι, — ἀχάριστοι, ungrateful ἀνόσιοι, — ἀνόσιοι, unholy
For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3 ἄστοργοι, — ἄστοργοι, without–natural–affection ἄσπονδοι, — ἄσπονδοι, irreconcilable διάβολοι, — διάβολοι, slanderers ἀκρατεῖς, — ἀκρατεῖς, without–self–control ἀνήμεροι, — ἀνήμεροι, brutal ἀφιλάγαθοι, — ἀφιλάγαθοι, not–loving–good
Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4 προδόται, — προδόται, traitors προπετεῖς, — προπετεῖς, reckless τετυφωμένοι, — τετυφωμένοι, having–been–puffed–up φιλήδονοι — φιλήδονοι lovers–of–pleasure μᾶλλον — μᾶλλον rather ἢ — ἢ than φιλόθεοι; — φιλόθεοι; lovers–of–God
Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5 ἔχοντες — ἔχοντες having μόρφωσιν — μόρφωσιν form εὐσεβείας, — εὐσεβείας, of–godliness τὴν — τὴν the δὲ — δὲ but– δύναμιν — δύναμιν power αὐτῆς — αὐτῆς of–it ἠρνημένοι. — ἠρνημένοι. having–denied καὶ — καὶ and– τούτους — τούτους these ἀποτρέπου. — ἀποτρέπου. turn–away–from
Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6 ἐκ — ἐκ from τούτων — τούτων these γάρ, — γάρ, for– εἰσιν — εἰσιν are οἱ — οἱ the–ones ἐνδύνοντες — ἐνδύνοντες creeping–into εἰς — εἰς into τὰς — τὰς the οἰκίας, — οἰκίας, houses καὶ — καὶ and– αἰχμαλωτίζοντες — αἰχμαλωτίζοντες capturing γυναικάρια, — γυναικάρια, weak–women σεσωρευμένα — σεσωρευμένα having–been–heaped–with ἁμαρτίαις, — ἁμαρτίαις, sins ἀγόμενα — ἀγόμενα being–led ἐπιθυμίαις — ἐπιθυμίαις by–desires ποικίλαις, — ποικίλαις, various
For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
7 πάντοτε — πάντοτε always μανθάνοντα, — μανθάνοντα, learning καὶ — καὶ and– μηδέποτε — μηδέποτε never εἰς — εἰς unto ἐπίγνωσιν — ἐπίγνωσιν knowledge ἀληθείας — ἀληθείας of–truth ἐλθεῖν — ἐλθεῖν to–come δυνάμενα. — δυνάμενα. being–able
Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
9 ἀλλ’ — ἀλλ’ but– οὐ — οὐ not προκόψουσιν — προκόψουσιν they–will–advance ἐπὶ — ἐπὶ further πλεῖον, — πλεῖον, more ἡ — ἡ the γὰρ — γὰρ for– ἄνοια — ἄνοια folly αὐτῶν — αὐτῶν of–them ἔκδηλος — ἔκδηλος evident ἔσται — ἔσται will–be πᾶσιν, — πᾶσιν, to–all ὡς — ὡς as καὶ — καὶ also ἡ — ἡ the ἐκείνων — ἐκείνων of–those ἐγένετο. — ἐγένετο. became
But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.
10 Σὺ — Σὺ you δὲ — δὲ but– παρηκολούθησάς — παρηκολούθησάς have–followed–closely μου — μου of–me τῇ — τῇ the διδασκαλίᾳ, — διδασκαλίᾳ, teaching τῇ — τῇ the ἀγωγῇ, — ἀγωγῇ, conduct τῇ — τῇ the προθέσει, — προθέσει, purpose τῇ — τῇ the πίστει, — πίστει, faith τῇ — τῇ the μακροθυμίᾳ, — μακροθυμίᾳ, patience τῇ — τῇ the ἀγάπῃ, — ἀγάπῃ, love τῇ — τῇ the ὑπομονῇ, — ὑπομονῇ, endurance
But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
11 τοῖς — τοῖς the διωγμοῖς, — διωγμοῖς, persecutions τοῖς — τοῖς the παθήμασιν: — παθήμασιν: sufferings οἷά — οἷά such–as μοι — μοι to–me ἐγένετο — ἐγένετο happened ἐν — ἐν in Ἀντιοχείᾳ, — Ἀντιοχείᾳ, Antiocheia ἐν — ἐν in Ἰκονίῳ, — Ἰκονίῳ, Ikonion ἐν — ἐν in Λύστροις; — Λύστροις; Lystra οἵους — οἵους what–kind–of διωγμοὺς — διωγμοὺς persecutions ὑπήνεγκα; — ὑπήνεγκα; I–endured καὶ — καὶ and– ἐκ — ἐκ out-of πάντων, — πάντων, all με — με me ἐρρύσατο — ἐρρύσατο rescued ὁ — ὁ the Κύριος. — Κύριος. Lord
Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me.
12 καὶ — καὶ and– πάντες — πάντες all δὲ, — δὲ, but– οἱ — οἱ the–ones θέλοντες — θέλοντες wanting ζῆν⇔ — ζῆν⇔ to–live εὐσεβῶς — εὐσεβῶς godly ἐν — ἐν in Χριστῷ — Χριστῷ Christos Ἰησοῦ, — Ἰησοῦ, Iēsous διωχθήσονται. — διωχθήσονται. will–be–persecuted
Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.
13 πονηροὶ — πονηροὶ evil δὲ — δὲ but– ἄνθρωποι — ἄνθρωποι men καὶ — καὶ and– γόητες — γόητες impostors προκόψουσιν — προκόψουσιν will–advance ἐπὶ — ἐπὶ to τὸ — τὸ the χεῖρον, — χεῖρον, worse πλανῶντες — πλανῶντες deceiving καὶ — καὶ and– πλανώμενοι. — πλανώμενοι. being–deceived
But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
14 σὺ — σὺ you δὲ — δὲ but– μένε — μένε remain ἐν — ἐν in οἷς — οἷς what ἔμαθες, — ἔμαθες, you–learned καὶ — καὶ and– ἐπιστώθης, — ἐπιστώθης, were–convinced–of εἰδὼς — εἰδὼς knowing παρὰ — παρὰ from τίνων — τίνων whom ἔμαθες; — ἔμαθες; you–learned
But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
15 καὶ — καὶ and– ὅτι — ὅτι that ἀπὸ — ἀπὸ from βρέφους — βρέφους infancy [τὰ] — [τὰ] the– ἱερὰ — ἱερὰ sacred γράμματα — γράμματα writings οἶδας, — οἶδας, you–know τὰ — τὰ the–ones δυνάμενά — δυνάμενά being–able σε — σε you σοφίσαι — σοφίσαι to–make–wise εἰς — εἰς unto σωτηρίαν, — σωτηρίαν, salvation διὰ — διὰ through πίστεως, — πίστεως, faith τῆς — τῆς the–one ἐν — ἐν in Χριστῷ — Χριστῷ Christos Ἰησοῦ. — Ἰησοῦ. And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
16 πᾶσα — πᾶσα all γραφὴ — γραφὴ Scripture θεόπνευστος — θεόπνευστος God–breathed καὶ — καὶ and– ὠφέλιμος — ὠφέλιμος profitable πρὸς — πρὸς for διδασκαλίαν, — διδασκαλίαν, teaching πρὸς — πρὸς for ἐλεγμόν, — ἐλεγμόν, reproof πρὸς — πρὸς for ἐπανόρθωσιν, — ἐπανόρθωσιν, correction πρὸς — πρὸς for παιδείαν — παιδείαν training τὴν — τὴν the–one ἐν — ἐν in δικαιοσύνῃ, — δικαιοσύνῃ, righteousness
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 ἵνα — ἵνα that ἄρτιος — ἄρτιος complete ᾖ — ᾖ may–be ὁ — ὁ the τοῦ — τοῦ of–the Θεοῦ — Θεοῦ God ἄνθρωπος, — ἄνθρωπος, man πρὸς — πρὸς for πᾶν — πᾶν every ἔργον — ἔργον work ἀγαθὸν — ἀγαθὸν good ἐξηρτισμένος. — ἐξηρτισμένος. having–been–equipped
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
