I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;

For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
3 τοῦτο — τοῦτο this καλὸν — καλὸν good καὶ — καὶ and– ἀπόδεκτον, — ἀπόδεκτον, acceptable ἐνώπιον — ἐνώπιον before τοῦ — τοῦ the Σωτῆρος — Σωτῆρος Savior ἡμῶν, — ἡμῶν, of–us Θεοῦ, — Θεοῦ, God
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
4 ὃς — ὃς who πάντας — πάντας all ἀνθρώπους — ἀνθρώπους men θέλει — θέλει desires σωθῆναι, — σωθῆναι, to–be–saved καὶ — καὶ and– εἰς — εἰς into ἐπίγνωσιν — ἐπίγνωσιν knowledge ἀληθείας — ἀληθείας of–truth ἐλθεῖν. — ἐλθεῖν. to–come
Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity.

I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
9 Ὡσαύτως — Ὡσαύτως likewise ‹καὶ› — ‹καὶ› also– γυναῖκας, — γυναῖκας, women ἐν — ἐν in καταστολῇ — καταστολῇ clothing κοσμίῳ, — κοσμίῳ, respectable μετὰ — μετὰ with αἰδοῦς — αἰδοῦς modesty καὶ — καὶ and– σωφροσύνης, — σωφροσύνης, self-control κοσμεῖν — κοσμεῖν to–adorn ἑαυτάς, — ἑαυτάς, themselves μὴ — μὴ not ἐν — ἐν in πλέγμασιν, — πλέγμασιν, braided-hair καὶ — καὶ and– χρυσίῳ, — χρυσίῳ, gold ἢ — ἢ or– μαργαρίταις, — μαργαρίταις, pearls ἢ — ἢ or– ἱματισμῷ — ἱματισμῷ clothing πολυτελεῖ, — πολυτελεῖ, costly
In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
10 ἀλλ’ — ἀλλ’ but– ὃ — ὃ what πρέπει — πρέπει is–fitting γυναιξὶν — γυναιξὶν for–women ἐπαγγελλομέναις — ἐπαγγελλομέναις professing θεοσέβειαν, — θεοσέβειαν, godliness δι’ — δι’ through ἔργων — ἔργων works ἀγαθῶν. — ἀγαθῶν. good
But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
11 Γυνὴ — Γυνὴ a–woman ἐν — ἐν in ἡσυχίᾳ — ἡσυχίᾳ quietness μανθανέτω — μανθανέτω let–learn ἐν — ἐν in πάσῃ — πάσῃ all ὑποταγῇ; — ὑποταγῇ; submission
Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
12 διδάσκειν — διδάσκειν to–teach δὲ — δὲ but– γυναικὶ — γυναικὶ to–a–woman οὐκ — οὐκ not ἐπιτρέπω, — ἐπιτρέπω, I–permit οὐδὲ — οὐδὲ nor– αὐθεντεῖν — αὐθεντεῖν to–exercise–authority ἀνδρός, — ἀνδρός, of–a–man ἀλλ’ — ἀλλ’ but– εἶναι — εἶναι to–be ἐν — ἐν in ἡσυχίᾳ; — ἡσυχίᾳ; quietness
But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
15 σωθήσεται — σωθήσεται she–will–be–saved δὲ — δὲ but– διὰ — διὰ through τῆς — τῆς the τεκνογονίας, — τεκνογονίας, childbearing ἐὰν — ἐὰν if μείνωσιν — μείνωσιν they–remain ἐν — ἐν in πίστει, — πίστει, faith καὶ — καὶ and– ἀγάπῃ, — ἀγάπῃ, love καὶ — καὶ and– ἁγιασμῷ, — ἁγιασμῷ, holiness μετὰ — μετὰ with σωφροσύνης. — σωφροσύνης. self-control
Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.
