And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him.
2 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר — וַיֹּ֨אמֶר and–said יְהוָ֜ה — יְהוָ֜ה YHWH אֶל־ — אֶל־ unto הַשָּׂטָ֗ן — הַשָּׂטָ֗ן the–adversary יִגְעַ֨ר — יִגְעַ֨ר rebuke יְהוָ֤ה — יְהוָ֤ה YHWH בְּךָ֙ — בְּךָ֙ in–you הַשָּׂטָ֔ן — הַשָּׂטָ֔ן the–adversary וְיִגְעַ֤ר — וְיִגְעַ֤ר and–rebuke יְהוָה֙ — יְהוָה֙ YHWH בְּךָ֔ — בְּךָ֔ in–you הַבֹּחֵ֖ר — הַבֹּחֵ֖ר the–one–choosing בִּירֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם — בִּירֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם in–Yerushalayim הֲל֧וֹא — הֲל֧וֹא is–not זֶ֦ה — זֶ֦ה this א֖וּד — א֖וּד a–brand מֻצָּ֥ל — מֻצָּ֥ל plucked מֵאֵֽשׁ׃ — מֵאֵֽשׁ׃ from–fire
And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?
3 וִיהוֹשֻׁ֕עַ — וִיהוֹשֻׁ֕עַ and–Yehoshua הָיָ֥ה — הָיָ֥ה was לָבֻ֖שׁ — לָבֻ֖שׁ clothed בְּגָדִ֣ים — בְּגָדִ֣ים garments צוֹאִ֑ים — צוֹאִ֑ים filthy וְעֹמֵ֖ד — וְעֹמֵ֖ד and–standing לִפְנֵ֥י — לִפְנֵ֥י before הַמַּלְאָֽךְ׃ — הַמַּלְאָֽךְ׃ the–angel
Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel.
4 וַיַּ֣עַן — וַיַּ֣עַן and–he–answered וַיֹּ֗אמֶר — וַיֹּ֗אמֶר and–he–said אֶל־ — אֶל־ unto הָעֹמְדִ֤ים — הָעֹמְדִ֤ים the–ones–standing לְפָנָיו֙ — לְפָנָיו֙ before–him לֵאמֹ֔ר — לֵאמֹ֔ר saying הָסִ֛ירוּ — הָסִ֛ירוּ remove הַבְּגָדִ֥ים — הַבְּגָדִ֥ים the–garments הַצֹּאִ֖ים — הַצֹּאִ֖ים the–filthy מֵעָלָ֑יו — מֵעָלָ֑יו from–upon–him וַיֹּ֣אמֶר — וַיֹּ֣אמֶר and–he–said אֵלָ֗יו — אֵלָ֗יו unto–him רְאֵ֨ה — רְאֵ֨ה see הֶעֱבַ֤רְתִּי — הֶעֱבַ֤רְתִּי I–have–caused–to–pass מֵעָלֶ֙יךָ֙ — מֵעָלֶ֙יךָ֙ from–upon–you עֲוֺנֶ֔ךָ — עֲוֺנֶ֔ךָ your–iniquity וְהַלְבֵּ֥שׁ — וְהַלְבֵּ֥שׁ and–clothe אֹתְךָ֖ — אֹתְךָ֖ you מַחֲלָצֽוֹת׃ — מַחֲלָצֽוֹת׃ robes
And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.
5 וָאֹמַ֕ר — וָאֹמַ֕ר and–I–said יָשִׂ֛ימוּ — יָשִׂ֛ימוּ let–them–set צָנִ֥יף — צָנִ֥יף a–turban טָה֖וֹר — טָה֖וֹר clean עַל־ — עַל־ upon רֹאשׁ֑וֹ — רֹאשׁ֑וֹ his–head וַיָּשִׂימוּ֩ — וַיָּשִׂימוּ֩ and–they–set הַצָּנִ֨יף — הַצָּנִ֨יף the–turban הַטָּה֜וֹר — הַטָּה֜וֹר the–clean עַל־ — עַל־ upon רֹאשׁ֗וֹ — רֹאשׁ֗וֹ his–head וַיַּלְבִּשֻׁ֙הוּ֙ — וַיַּלְבִּשֻׁ֙הוּ֙ and–they–clothed–him בְּגָדִ֔ים — בְּגָדִ֔ים garments וּמַלְאַ֥ךְ — וּמַלְאַ֥ךְ and–angel–of יְהוָ֖ה — יְהוָ֖ה YHWH עֹמֵֽד׃ — עֹמֵֽד׃ standing
And I said, Let them set a fair mitre upon his head. So they set a fair mitre upon his head, and clothed him with garments. And the angel of the Lord stood by.
6 וַיָּ֙עַד֙ — וַיָּ֙עַד֙ and–charged מַלְאַ֣ךְ — מַלְאַ֣ךְ angel–of יְהוָ֔ה — יְהוָ֔ה YHWH בִּיהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ — בִּיהוֹשֻׁ֖עַ Yehoshua לֵאמֹֽר׃ — לֵאמֹֽר׃ saying
And the angel of the Lord protested unto Joshua, saying,
7 כֹּה־ — כֹּה־ thus אָמַ֞ר — אָמַ֞ר says יְהוָ֣ה — יְהוָ֣ה YHWH צְבָא֗וֹת — צְבָא֗וֹת of–hosts אִם־ — אִם־ if בִּדְרָכַ֤י — בִּדְרָכַ֤י in–my–ways תֵּלֵךְ֙ — תֵּלֵךְ֙ you–will–walk וְאִ֣ם — וְאִ֣ם and–if אֶת־ — אֶת־ [obj] מִשְׁמַרְתִּ֣י — מִשְׁמַרְתִּ֣י my–charge תִשְׁמֹ֔ר — תִשְׁמֹ֔ר you–will–keep וְגַם־ — וְגַם־ and–also אַתָּה֙ — אַתָּה֙ you תָּדִ֣ין — תָּדִ֣ין will–judge אֶת־ — אֶת־ [obj] בֵּיתִ֔י — בֵּיתִ֔י my–house וְגַ֖ם — וְגַ֖ם and–also תִּשְׁמֹ֣ר — תִּשְׁמֹ֣ר will–keep אֶת־ — אֶת־ [obj] חֲצֵרָ֑י — חֲצֵרָ֑י my–courts וְנָתַתִּ֤י — וְנָתַתִּ֤י and–I–will–give לְךָ֙ — לְךָ֙ to–you מַהְלְכִ֔ים — מַהְלְכִ֔ים access בֵּ֥ין — בֵּ֥ין among הָעֹמְדִ֖ים — הָעֹמְדִ֖ים the–ones–standing הָאֵֽלֶּה׃ — הָאֵֽלֶּה׃ these
Thus saith the Lord of hosts; If thou wilt walk in my ways, and if thou wilt keep my charge, then thou shalt also judge my house, and shalt also keep my courts, and I will give thee places to walk among these that stand by.
8 שְֽׁמַֽע־ — שְֽׁמַֽע־ hear נָ֞א — נָ֞א please יְהוֹשֻׁ֣עַ ׀ — יְהוֹשֻׁ֣עַ ׀ Yehoshua הַכֹּהֵ֣ן — הַכֹּהֵ֣ן the–priest הַגָּד֗וֹל — הַגָּד֗וֹל the–great אַתָּה֙ — אַתָּה֙ you וְרֵעֶ֙יךָ֙ — וְרֵעֶ֙יךָ֙ and–your–companions הַיֹּשְׁבִ֣ים — הַיֹּשְׁבִ֣ים the–ones–sitting לְפָנֶ֔יךָ — לְפָנֶ֔יךָ before–you כִּֽי־ — כִּֽי־ for אַנְשֵׁ֥י — אַנְשֵׁ֥י men–of מוֹפֵ֖ת — מוֹפֵ֖ת sign הֵ֑מָּה — הֵ֑מָּה they כִּֽי־ — כִּֽי־ for הִנְנִ֥י — הִנְנִ֥י behold–me מֵבִ֛יא — מֵבִ֛יא bringing אֶת־ — אֶת־ [obj] עַבְדִּ֖י — עַבְדִּ֖י my–servant צֶֽמַח׃ — צֶֽמַח׃ Branch
Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I will bring forth my servant the BRANCH.
9 כִּ֣י ׀ — כִּ֣י ׀ for הִנֵּ֣ה — הִנֵּ֣ה behold הָאֶ֗בֶן — הָאֶ֗בֶן the–stone אֲשֶׁ֤ר — אֲשֶׁ֤ר which נָתַ֙תִּי֙ — נָתַ֙תִּי֙ I–have–set לִפְנֵ֣י — לִפְנֵ֣י before יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ — יְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַ Yehoshua עַל־ — עַל־ upon אֶ֥בֶן — אֶ֥בֶן stone אַחַ֖ת — אַחַ֖ת one שִׁבְעָ֣ה — שִׁבְעָ֣ה seven עֵינָ֑יִם — עֵינָ֑יִם eyes הִנְנִ֧י — הִנְנִ֧י behold–me מְפַתֵּ֣חַ — מְפַתֵּ֣חַ engraving פִּתֻּחָ֗הּ — פִּתֻּחָ֗הּ its–engraving נְאֻם֙ — נְאֻם֙ declares יְהוָ֣ה — יְהוָ֣ה YHWH צְבָא֔וֹת — צְבָא֔וֹת of–hosts וּמַשְׁתִּ֛י — וּמַשְׁתִּ֛י and–I–will–remove אֶת־ — אֶת־ [obj] עֲוֺ֥ן — עֲוֺ֥ן iniquity–of הָאָֽרֶץ־ — הָאָֽרֶץ־ the–land הַהִ֖יא — הַהִ֖יא that בְּי֥וֹם — בְּי֥וֹם in–day אֶחָֽד׃ — אֶחָֽד׃ one
For behold the stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will engrave the graving thereof, saith the Lord of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.
10 בַּיּ֣וֹם — בַּיּ֣וֹם in–the–day הַה֗וּא — הַה֗וּא that נְאֻם֙ — נְאֻם֙ declares יְהוָ֣ה — יְהוָ֣ה YHWH צְבָא֔וֹת — צְבָא֔וֹת of–hosts תִּקְרְא֖וּ — תִּקְרְא֖וּ you–will–call אִ֣ישׁ — אִ֣ישׁ a–man לְרֵעֵ֑הוּ — לְרֵעֵ֑הוּ to–his–neighbor אֶל־ — אֶל־ unto תַּ֥חַת — תַּ֥חַת under גֶּ֖פֶן — גֶּ֖פֶן vine וְאֶל־ — וְאֶל־ and–unto תַּ֥חַת — תַּ֥חַת under תְּאֵנָֽה׃ — תְּאֵנָֽה׃ fig–tree
In that day, saith the Lord of hosts, shall ye call every man his neighbour under the vine and under the fig tree.
