And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee.
2 וַתָּ֧בֹא — וַתָּ֧בֹא and–came בִ֣י — בִ֣י in-me ר֗וּחַ — ר֗וּחַ spirit כַּֽאֲשֶׁר֙ — כַּֽאֲשֶׁר֙ as-which דִּבֶּ֣ר — דִּבֶּ֣ר He-spoke אֵלַ֔י — אֵלַ֔י unto-me וַתַּעֲמִדֵ֖נִי — וַתַּעֲמִדֵ֖נִי and–it-set-me עַל־ — עַל־ upon– רַגְלָ֑י — רַגְלָ֑י feet-of-me וָאֶשְׁמַ֕ע — וָאֶשְׁמַ֕ע and–I-heard אֵ֖ת — אֵ֖ת [dir-obj] מִדַּבֵּ֥ר — מִדַּבֵּ֥ר speaking אֵלָֽי׃ — אֵלָֽי׃ unto-me פ — פ [section]
And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me.
3 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר — וַיֹּ֣אמֶר and–He-said אֵלַ֗י — אֵלַ֗י unto-me בֶּן־ — בֶּן־ son-of– אָדָם֙ — אָדָם֙ man שׁוֹלֵ֨חַ — שׁוֹלֵ֨חַ sending אֲנִ֤י — אֲנִ֤י I אֽוֹתְךָ֙ — אֽוֹתְךָ֙ you אֶל־ — אֶל־ unto– בְּנֵ֣י — בְּנֵ֣י sons-of יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל — יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל Israel אֶל־ — אֶל־ unto– גּוֹיִ֥ם — גּוֹיִ֥ם nations הַמּוֹרְדִ֖ים — הַמּוֹרְדִ֖ים the–rebelling אֲשֶׁ֣ר — אֲשֶׁ֣ר who מָרְדוּ־ — מָרְדוּ־ they-rebelled– בִ֑י — בִ֑י against-me הֵ֤מָּה — הֵ֤מָּה they וַאֲבוֹתָם֙ — וַאֲבוֹתָם֙ and–fathers-of-them פָּ֣שְׁעוּ — פָּ֣שְׁעוּ they-transgressed בִ֔י — בִ֔י against-me עַד־ — עַד־ until– עֶ֖צֶם — עֶ֖צֶם bone-of הַיּ֥וֹם — הַיּ֥וֹם the–day הַזֶּֽה׃ — הַזֶּֽה׃ the–this
And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day.
4 וְהַבָּנִ֗ים — וְהַבָּנִ֗ים and–the–sons קְשֵׁ֤י — קְשֵׁ֤י hard-of פָנִים֙ — פָנִים֙ faces וְחִזְקֵי־ — וְחִזְקֵי־ and–strong-of– לֵ֔ב — לֵ֔ב heart אֲנִ֛י — אֲנִ֛י I שׁוֹלֵ֥חַ — שׁוֹלֵ֥חַ sending אוֹתְךָ֖ — אוֹתְךָ֖ you אֲלֵיהֶ֑ם — אֲלֵיהֶ֑ם unto-them וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ — וְאָמַרְתָּ֣ and–you-shall-say אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם — אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם unto-them כֹּ֥ה — כֹּ֥ה thus אָמַ֖ר — אָמַ֖ר said אֲדֹנָ֥י — אֲדֹנָ֥י Adonai יְהֹוִֽה׃ — יְהֹוִֽה׃ YHWH
For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God.
5 וְהֵ֙מָּה֙ — וְהֵ֙מָּה֙ and–they אִם־ — אִם־ if– יִשְׁמְע֣וּ — יִשְׁמְע֣וּ they-hear וְאִם־ — וְאִם־ and–if– יֶחְדָּ֔לוּ — יֶחְדָּ֔לוּ they-refuse כִּ֛י — כִּ֛י for בֵּ֥ית — בֵּ֥ית house-of מְרִ֖י — מְרִ֖י rebellion הֵ֑מָּה — הֵ֑מָּה they וְיָ֣דְע֔וּ — וְיָ֣דְע֔וּ and–they-shall-know כִּ֥י — כִּ֥י that נָבִ֖יא — נָבִ֖יא prophet הָיָ֥ה — הָיָ֥ה was בְתוֹכָֽם׃ — בְתוֹכָֽם׃ in–midst-of-them פ — פ [section]
And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.
6 וְאַתָּ֣ה — וְאַתָּ֣ה and–you בֶן־ — בֶן־ son-of– אָ֠דָם — אָ֠דָם man אַל־ — אַל־ not– תִּירָ֨א — תִּירָ֨א you-shall-fear מֵהֶ֜ם — מֵהֶ֜ם from-them וּמִדִּבְרֵיהֶ֣ם — וּמִדִּבְרֵיהֶ֣ם and–from–words-of-them אַל־ — אַל־ not– תִּירָ֗א — תִּירָ֗א you-shall-fear כִּ֣י — כִּ֣י for סָרָבִ֤ים — סָרָבִ֤ים briers וְסַלּוֹנִים֙ — וְסַלּוֹנִים֙ and–thorns אוֹתָ֔ךְ — אוֹתָ֔ךְ with-you וְאֶל־ — וְאֶל־ and–among– עַקְרַבִּ֖ים — עַקְרַבִּ֖ים scorpions אַתָּ֣ה — אַתָּ֣ה you יוֹשֵׁ֑ב — יוֹשֵׁ֑ב dwelling מִדִּבְרֵיהֶ֤ם — מִדִּבְרֵיהֶ֤ם from–words-of-them אַל־ — אַל־ not– תִּירָא֙ — תִּירָא֙ you-shall-fear וּמִפְּנֵיהֶ֣ם — וּמִפְּנֵיהֶ֣ם and–from–faces-of-them אַל־ — אַל־ not– תֵּחָ֔ת — תֵּחָ֔ת you-shall-be-dismayed כִּ֛י — כִּ֛י for בֵּ֥ית — בֵּ֥ית house-of מְרִ֖י — מְרִ֖י rebellion הֵֽמָּה׃ — הֵֽמָּה׃ they
And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.
7 וְדִבַּרְתָּ֤ — וְדִבַּרְתָּ֤ and–you-shall-speak אֶת־ — אֶת־ [dir-obj]– דְּבָרַי֙ — דְּבָרַי֙ words-of-me אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם — אֲלֵיהֶ֔ם unto-them אִֽם־ — אִֽם־ if– יִשְׁמְע֖וּ — יִשְׁמְע֖וּ they-hear וְאִם־ — וְאִם־ and–if– יֶחְדָּ֑לוּ — יֶחְדָּ֑לוּ they-refuse כִּ֥י — כִּ֥י for מְרִ֖י — מְרִ֖י rebellion הֵֽמָּה׃ — הֵֽמָּה׃ they פ — פ [section]
And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most rebellious.
8 וְאַתָּ֣ה — וְאַתָּ֣ה and–you בֶן־ — בֶן־ son-of– אָדָ֗ם — אָדָ֗ם man שְׁמַע֙ — שְׁמַע֙ hear אֵ֤ת — אֵ֤ת [dir-obj] אֲשֶׁר־ — אֲשֶׁר־ that-which– אֲנִי֙ — אֲנִי֙ I מְדַבֵּ֣ר — מְדַבֵּ֣ר speaking אֵלֶ֔יךָ — אֵלֶ֔יךָ unto-you אַל־ — אַל־ not– תְּהִי־ — תְּהִי־ you-shall-be– מֶ֖רִי — מֶ֖רִי rebellion כְּבֵ֣ית — כְּבֵ֣ית like–house-of הַמֶּ֑רִי — הַמֶּ֑רִי the–rebellion פְּצֵ֣ה — פְּצֵ֣ה open פִ֔יךָ — פִ֔יךָ mouth-of-you וֶאֱכֹ֕ל — וֶאֱכֹ֕ל and–eat אֵ֥ת — אֵ֥ת [dir-obj] אֲשֶׁר־ — אֲשֶׁר־ that-which– אֲנִ֖י — אֲנִ֖י I נֹתֵ֥ן — נֹתֵ֥ן giving אֵלֶֽיךָ׃ — אֵלֶֽיךָ׃ unto-you
But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee.
9 וָאֶרְאֶ֕ה — וָאֶרְאֶ֕ה and–I-saw וְהִנֵּה־ — וְהִנֵּה־ and–behold– יָ֖ד — יָ֖ד hand שְׁלוּחָ֣ה — שְׁלוּחָ֣ה sent-out אֵלָ֑י — אֵלָ֑י unto-me וְהִנֵּה־ — וְהִנֵּה־ and–behold– ב֖וֹ — ב֖וֹ in-it מְגִלַּת־ — מְגִלַּת־ scroll-of– סֵֽפֶר׃ — סֵֽפֶר׃ book
And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein;
10 וַיִּפְרֹ֤שׂ — וַיִּפְרֹ֤שׂ and–He-spread אוֹתָהּ֙ — אוֹתָהּ֙ it לְפָנַ֔י — לְפָנַ֔י before-me וְהִ֥יא — וְהִ֥יא and–it כְתוּבָ֖ה — כְתוּבָ֖ה written פָּנִ֣ים — פָּנִ֣ים front וְאָח֑וֹר — וְאָח֑וֹר and–back וְכָת֣וּב — וְכָת֣וּב and–written אֵלֶ֔יהָ — אֵלֶ֔יהָ unto-it קִנִ֥ים — קִנִ֥ים lamentations וָהֶ֖גֶה — וָהֶ֖גֶה and–mourning וָהִֽי׃ — וָהִֽי׃ and–woe ס — ס [section-marker]
And he spread it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe.
