Unto thee lift I up mine eyes, O thou that dwellest in the heavens.
2 הִנֵּ֨ה — הִנֵּ֨ה behold כְעֵינֵ֪י — כְעֵינֵ֪י as–the–eyes–of עֲבָדִ֡ים — עֲבָדִ֡ים servants אֶל־ — אֶל־ to יַ֤ד — יַ֤ד the–hand–of אֲֽדוֹנֵיהֶ֗ם — אֲֽדוֹנֵיהֶ֗ם their–masters כְּעֵינֵ֣י — כְּעֵינֵ֣י as–the–eyes–of שִׁפְחָה֮ — שִׁפְחָה֮ a–maidservant אֶל־ — אֶל־ to יַ֪ד — יַ֪ד the–hand–of גְּבִ֫רְתָּ֥הּ — גְּבִ֫רְתָּ֥הּ her–mistress כֵּ֣ן — כֵּ֣ן so עֵ֭ינֵינוּ — עֵ֭ינֵינוּ our–eyes אֶל־ — אֶל־ are–to יְהוָ֣ה — יְהוָ֣ה YHWH אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ — אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ our–Elohim עַ֝֗ד — עַ֝֗ד until שֶׁיְּחָנֵּֽנוּ׃ — שֶׁיְּחָנֵּֽנוּ׃ He–is–gracious–to–us
Behold, as the eyes of servants look unto the hand of their masters, and as the eyes of a maiden unto the hand of her mistress; so our eyes wait upon the Lord our God, until that he have mercy upon us.
3 חָנֵּ֣נוּ — חָנֵּ֣נוּ be–gracious–to–us יְהוָ֣ה — יְהוָ֣ה YHWH חָנֵּ֑נוּ — חָנֵּ֑נוּ be–gracious–to–us כִּֽי־ — כִּֽי־ for רַ֝֗ב — רַ֝֗ב greatly שָׂבַ֥עְנוּ — שָׂבַ֥עְנוּ we–are–filled בֽוּז׃ — בֽוּז׃ with–contempt
Have mercy upon us, O Lord, have mercy upon us: for we are exceedingly filled with contempt.
4 רַבַּת֮ — רַבַּת֮ greatly שָֽׂבְעָה־ — שָֽׂבְעָה־ is–filled לָּ֪הּ — לָּ֪הּ itself נַ֫פְשֵׁ֥נוּ — נַ֫פְשֵׁ֥נוּ our–soul הַלַּ֥עַג — הַלַּ֥עַג with–the–mocking–of הַשַּׁאֲנַנִּ֑ים — הַשַּׁאֲנַנִּ֑ים the–carefree הַ֝בּ֗וּז — הַ֝בּ֗וּז with–the–contempt–of לִגְאֵ֥יוֹנִֽים׃ — לִגְאֵ֥יוֹנִֽים׃ the–proud
Our soul is exceedingly filled with the scorning of those that are at ease, and with the contempt of the proud.
