I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me.
2 נֶאֱלַ֣מְתִּי — נֶאֱלַ֣מְתִּי I–was–mute ד֭וּמִיָּה — ד֭וּמִיָּה with–silence הֶחֱשֵׁ֣יתִי — הֶחֱשֵׁ֣יתִי I–was–silent מִטּ֑וֹב — מִטּ֑וֹב from–good וּכְאֵבִ֥י — וּכְאֵבִ֥י and–my–pain נֶעְכָּֽר׃ — נֶעְכָּֽר׃ was–stirred
I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred.
3 חַם־ — חַם־ was–hot לִבִּ֨י ׀ — לִבִּ֨י ׀ my–heart בְּקִרְבִּ֗י — בְּקִרְבִּ֗י within–me בַּהֲגִיגִ֥י — בַּהֲגִיגִ֥י in–my–musing תִבְעַר־ — תִבְעַר־ burned אֵ֑שׁ — אֵ֑שׁ a–fire דִּ֝בַּ֗רְתִּי — דִּ֝בַּ֗רְתִּי I–spoke בִּלְשֽׁוֹנִי׃ — בִּלְשֽׁוֹנִי׃ with–my–tongue
My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue,
4 הוֹדִ֘יעֵ֤נִי — הוֹדִ֘יעֵ֤נִי make–known–to–me יְהוָ֨ה ׀ — יְהוָ֨ה ׀ YHWH קִצִּ֗י — קִצִּ֗י my–end וּמִדַּ֣ת — וּמִדַּ֣ת and–measure–of יָמַ֣י — יָמַ֣י my–days מַה־ — מַה־ what הִ֑יא — הִ֑יא it–is אֵ֝דְעָ֗ה — אֵ֝דְעָ֗ה let–me–know מֶה־ — מֶה־ how חָדֵ֥ל — חָדֵ֥ל transient אָֽנִי׃ — אָֽנִי׃ I–am
Lord, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am.
5 הִנֵּ֤ה — הִנֵּ֤ה behold טְפָח֨וֹת ׀ — טְפָח֨וֹת ׀ handbreadths נָ֘תַ֤תָּה — נָ֘תַ֤תָּה You–have–made יָמַ֗י — יָמַ֗י my–days וְחֶלְדִּ֣י — וְחֶלְדִּ֣י and–my–lifetime כְאַ֣יִן — כְאַ֣יִן is–as–nothing נֶגְדֶּ֑ךָ — נֶגְדֶּ֑ךָ before–You אַ֥ךְ — אַ֥ךְ surely כָּֽל־ — כָּֽל־ all הֶ֥בֶל — הֶ֥בֶל is–vanity כָּל־ — כָּל־ every אָ֝דָ֗ם — אָ֝דָ֗ם man נִצָּ֥ב — נִצָּ֥ב standing סֶֽלָה׃ — סֶֽלָה׃ Selah
Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.
6 אַךְ־ — אַךְ־ surely בְּצֶ֤לֶם ׀ — בְּצֶ֤לֶם ׀ as–a–shadow יִֽתְהַלֶּךְ־ — יִֽתְהַלֶּךְ־ walks אִ֗ישׁ — אִ֗ישׁ a–man אַךְ־ — אַךְ־ surely הֶ֥בֶל — הֶ֥בֶל in–vain יֶהֱמָי֑וּן — יֶהֱמָי֑וּן they–are–in–turmoil יִ֝צְבֹּ֗ר — יִ֝צְבֹּ֗ר he–heaps–up וְֽלֹא־ — וְֽלֹא־ and–not יֵדַ֥ע — יֵדַ֥ע knows מִי־ — מִי־ who אֹסְפָֽם׃ — אֹסְפָֽם׃ will–gather–them
Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.
7 וְעַתָּ֣ה — וְעַתָּ֣ה and–now מַה־ — מַה־ what קִּוִּ֣יתִי — קִּוִּ֣יתִי do–I–wait–for אֲדֹנָ֑י — אֲדֹנָ֑י Adonai תּ֝וֹחַלְתִּ֗י — תּ֝וֹחַלְתִּ֗י my–hope לְךָ֣ — לְךָ֣ is–in–You הִֽיא׃ — הִֽיא׃ it–is
And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee.
8 מִכָּל־ — מִכָּל־ from–all פְּשָׁעַ֥י — פְּשָׁעַ֥י my–transgressions הַצִּילֵ֑נִי — הַצִּילֵ֑נִי deliver–me חֶרְפַּ֥ת — חֶרְפַּ֥ת reproach–of נָ֝בָ֗ל — נָ֝בָ֗ל a–fool אַל־ — אַל־ not תְּשִׂימֵֽנִי׃ — תְּשִׂימֵֽנִי׃ make–me
Deliver me from all my transgressions: make me not the reproach of the foolish.
9 נֶ֭אֱלַמְתִּי — נֶ֭אֱלַמְתִּי I–am–mute לֹ֣א — לֹ֣א not אֶפְתַּח־ — אֶפְתַּח־ I–open פִּ֑י — פִּ֑י my–mouth כִּ֖י — כִּ֖י for אַתָּ֣ה — אַתָּ֣ה You עָשִֽׂיתָ׃ — עָשִֽׂיתָ׃ have–done–it
I was dumb, I opened not my mouth; because thou didst it.
10 הָסֵ֣ר — הָסֵ֣ר remove מֵעָלַ֣י — מֵעָלַ֣י from–upon–me נִגְעֶ֑ךָ — נִגְעֶ֑ךָ Your–plague מִתִּגְרַ֥ת — מִתִּגְרַ֥ת from–hostility–of יָ֝דְךָ֗ — יָ֝דְךָ֗ Your–hand אֲנִ֣י — אֲנִ֣י I כָלִֽיתִי׃ — כָלִֽיתִי׃ am–finished
Remove thy stroke away from me: I am consumed by the blow of thine hand.
11 בְּֽתוֹכָ֘ח֤וֹת — בְּֽתוֹכָ֘ח֤וֹת with–rebukes עַל־ — עַל־ for עָוֺ֨ן ׀ — עָוֺ֨ן ׀ iniquity יִסַּ֬רְתָּ — יִסַּ֬רְתָּ You–discipline אִ֗ישׁ — אִ֗ישׁ a–man וַתֶּ֣מֶס — וַתֶּ֣מֶס and–consume כָּעָ֣שׁ — כָּעָ֣שׁ like–a–moth חֲמוּד֑וֹ — חֲמוּד֑וֹ his–treasure אַ֤ךְ — אַ֤ךְ surely הֶ֖בֶל — הֶ֖בֶל vanity כָּל־ — כָּל־ is–every אָדָ֣ם — אָדָ֣ם man סֶֽלָה׃ — סֶֽלָה׃ Selah
When thou with rebukes dost correct man for iniquity, thou makest his beauty to consume away like a moth: surely every man is vanity. Selah.
12 שִֽׁמְעָ֥ה־ — שִֽׁמְעָ֥ה־ hear תְפִלָּתִ֨י ׀ — תְפִלָּתִ֨י ׀ my–prayer יְהוָ֡ה — יְהוָ֡ה YHWH וְשַׁוְעָתִ֨י ׀ — וְשַׁוְעָתִ֨י ׀ and–my–cry הַאֲזִינָה֮ — הַאֲזִינָה֮ give–ear אֶֽל־ — אֶֽל־ to דִּמְעָתִ֗י — דִּמְעָתִ֗י my–tears אַֽל־ — אַֽל־ not תֶּ֫חֱרַ֥שׁ — תֶּ֫חֱרַ֥שׁ be–silent כִּ֤י — כִּ֤י for גֵ֣ר — גֵ֣ר a–sojourner אָנֹכִ֣י — אָנֹכִ֣י I עִמָּ֑ךְ — עִמָּ֑ךְ am–with–You תּ֝וֹשָׁ֗ב — תּ֝וֹשָׁ֗ב a–resident–alien כְּכָל־ — כְּכָל־ like–all אֲבוֹתָֽי׃ — אֲבוֹתָֽי׃ my–fathers
Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner, as all my fathers were.
13 הָשַׁ֣ע — הָשַׁ֣ע look–away מִמֶּ֣נִּי — מִמֶּ֣נִּי from–me וְאַבְלִ֑יגָה — וְאַבְלִ֑יגָה and–let–me–smile בְּטֶ֖רֶם — בְּטֶ֖רֶם before אֵלֵ֣ךְ — אֵלֵ֣ךְ I–go וְאֵינֶֽנִּי׃ — וְאֵינֶֽנִּי׃ and–am–no–more
O spare me, that I may recover strength, before I go hence, and be no more.
