And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
2 דַּבֵּ֣ר ׀ — דַּבֵּ֣ר ׀ speak אֶל־ — אֶל־ to– בְּנֵ֣י — בְּנֵ֣י sons-of יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל — יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל Yisrael וְקַ֣ח — וְקַ֣ח and–take מֵֽאִתָּ֡ם — מֵֽאִתָּ֡ם from–with–them מַטֶּ֣ה — מַטֶּ֣ה staff מַטֶּה֩ — מַטֶּה֩ staff לְבֵ֨ית — לְבֵ֨ית for–house-of אָ֜ב — אָ֜ב father מֵאֵ֤ת — מֵאֵ֤ת from–with כָּל־ — כָּל־ all– נְשִֽׂיאֵהֶם֙ — נְשִֽׂיאֵהֶם֙ their–princes לְבֵ֣ית — לְבֵ֣ית for–house-of אֲבֹתָ֔ם — אֲבֹתָ֔ם their–fathers שְׁנֵ֥ים — שְׁנֵ֥ים two עָשָׂ֖ר — עָשָׂ֖ר ten מַטּ֑וֹת — מַטּ֑וֹת staffs אִ֣ישׁ — אִ֣ישׁ man אֶת־ — אֶת־ – שְׁמ֔וֹ — שְׁמ֔וֹ his–name תִּכְתֹּ֖ב — תִּכְתֹּ֖ב you–shall–write עַל־ — עַל־ upon– מַטֵּֽהוּ׃ — מַטֵּֽהוּ׃ his–staff
Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod according to the house of their fathers, of all their princes according to the house of their fathers twelve rods: write thou every man’s name upon his rod.
3 וְאֵת֙ — וְאֵת֙ and– שֵׁ֣ם — שֵׁ֣ם name-of אַהֲרֹ֔ן — אַהֲרֹ֔ן Aharon תִּכְתֹּ֖ב — תִּכְתֹּ֖ב you–shall–write עַל־ — עַל־ upon– מַטֵּ֣ה — מַטֵּ֣ה staff-of לֵוִ֑י — לֵוִ֑י Levi כִּ֚י — כִּ֚י for מַטֶּ֣ה — מַטֶּ֣ה staff אֶחָ֔ד — אֶחָ֔ד one לְרֹ֖אשׁ — לְרֹ֖אשׁ for–head-of בֵּ֥ית — בֵּ֥ית house-of אֲבוֹתָֽם׃ — אֲבוֹתָֽם׃ their–fathers
And thou shalt write Aaron’s name upon the rod of Levi: for one rod shall be for the head of the house of their fathers.
4 וְהִנַּחְתָּ֖ם — וְהִנַּחְתָּ֖ם and–place–them בְּאֹ֣הֶל — בְּאֹ֣הֶל in–tent-of מוֹעֵ֑ד — מוֹעֵ֑ד meeting לִפְנֵי֙ — לִפְנֵי֙ before הָֽעֵד֔וּת — הָֽעֵד֔וּת the–testimony אֲשֶׁ֛ר — אֲשֶׁ֛ר where אִוָּעֵ֥ד — אִוָּעֵ֥ד I–meet לָכֶ֖ם — לָכֶ֖ם with–you שָֽׁמָּה׃ — שָֽׁמָּה׃ there
And thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the congregation before the testimony, where I will meet with you.
5 וְהָיָ֗ה — וְהָיָ֗ה and–it–shall–be הָאִ֛ישׁ — הָאִ֛ישׁ the–man אֲשֶׁ֥ר — אֲשֶׁ֥ר whom אֶבְחַר־ — אֶבְחַר־ I–choose– בּ֖וֹ — בּ֖וֹ in–him מַטֵּ֣הוּ — מַטֵּ֣הוּ his–staff יִפְרָ֑ח — יִפְרָ֑ח will–sprout וַהֲשִׁכֹּתִ֣י — וַהֲשִׁכֹּתִ֣י and–I–will–cause–to–cease מֵֽעָלַ֗י — מֵֽעָלַ֗י from–upon–me אֶת־ — אֶת־ – תְּלֻנּוֹת֙ — תְּלֻנּוֹת֙ murmurings-of בְּנֵ֣י — בְּנֵ֣י sons-of יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל — יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל Yisrael אֲשֶׁ֛ר — אֲשֶׁ֛ר which הֵ֥ם — הֵ֥ם they מַלִּינִ֖ם — מַלִּינִ֖ם murmuring עֲלֵיכֶֽם׃ — עֲלֵיכֶֽם׃ against–you
And it shall come to pass, that the man’s rod, whom I shall choose, shall blossom: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they murmur against you.
6 וַיְדַבֵּ֨ר — וַיְדַבֵּ֨ר and–spoke מֹשֶׁ֜ה — מֹשֶׁ֜ה Mosheh אֶל־ — אֶל־ to– בְּנֵ֣י — בְּנֵ֣י sons-of יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל — יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל Yisrael וַיִּתְּנ֣וּ — וַיִּתְּנ֣וּ and–gave אֵלָ֣יו ׀ — אֵלָ֣יו ׀ to–him כָּֽל־ — כָּֽל־ all– נְשִֽׂיאֵיהֶ֡ם — נְשִֽׂיאֵיהֶ֡ם their–princes מַטֶּה֩ — מַטֶּה֩ staff לְנָשִׂ֨יא — לְנָשִׂ֨יא for–prince אֶחָ֜ד — אֶחָ֜ד one מַטֶּ֨ה — מַטֶּ֨ה staff לְנָשִׂ֤יא — לְנָשִׂ֤יא for–prince אֶחָד֙ — אֶחָד֙ one לְבֵ֣ית — לְבֵ֣ית for–house-of אֲבֹתָ֔ם — אֲבֹתָ֔ם their–fathers שְׁנֵ֥ים — שְׁנֵ֥ים two עָשָׂ֖ר — עָשָׂ֖ר ten מַטּ֑וֹת — מַטּ֑וֹת staffs וּמַטֵּ֥ה — וּמַטֵּ֥ה and–staff-of אַהֲרֹ֖ן — אַהֲרֹ֖ן Aharon בְּת֥וֹךְ — בְּת֥וֹךְ in–midst-of מַטּוֹתָֽם׃ — מַטּוֹתָֽם׃ their–staffs
And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, and every one of their princes gave him a rod apiece, for each prince one, according to their fathers’ houses, even twelve rods: and the rod of Aaron was among their rods.
7 וַיַּנַּ֥ח — וַיַּנַּ֥ח and–placed מֹשֶׁ֛ה — מֹשֶׁ֛ה Mosheh אֶת־ — אֶת־ – הַמַּטֹּ֖ת — הַמַּטֹּ֖ת the–staffs לִפְנֵ֣י — לִפְנֵ֣י before יְהוָ֑ה — יְהוָ֑ה YHWH בְּאֹ֖הֶל — בְּאֹ֖הֶל in–tent-of הָעֵדֻֽת׃ — הָעֵדֻֽת׃ the–testimony
And Moses laid up the rods before the Lord in the tabernacle of witness.
8 וַיְהִ֣י — וַיְהִ֣י and–it–was מִֽמָּחֳרָ֗ת — מִֽמָּחֳרָ֗ת on–the–next–day וַיָּבֹ֤א — וַיָּבֹ֤א and–came מֹשֶׁה֙ — מֹשֶׁה֙ Mosheh אֶל־ — אֶל־ to– אֹ֣הֶל — אֹ֣הֶל tent-of הָעֵד֔וּת — הָעֵד֔וּת the–testimony וְהִנֵּ֛ה — וְהִנֵּ֛ה and–behold פָּרַ֥ח — פָּרַ֥ח sprouted מַטֵּֽה־ — מַטֵּֽה־ staff-of– אַהֲרֹ֖ן — אַהֲרֹ֖ן Aharon לְבֵ֣ית — לְבֵ֣ית for–house-of לֵוִ֑י — לֵוִ֑י Levi וַיֹּ֤צֵֽא — וַיֹּ֤צֵֽא and–brought–forth פֶ֙רַח֙ — פֶ֙רַח֙ bud וַיָּ֣צֵֽץ — וַיָּ֣צֵֽץ and–blossomed צִ֔יץ — צִ֔יץ blossom וַיִּגְמֹ֖ל — וַיִּגְמֹ֖ל and–bore שְׁקֵדִֽים׃ — שְׁקֵדִֽים׃ almonds
And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds.
9 וַיֹּצֵ֨א — וַיֹּצֵ֨א and–brought–out מֹשֶׁ֤ה — מֹשֶׁ֤ה Mosheh אֶת־ — אֶת־ – כָּל־ — כָּל־ all– הַמַּטֹּת֙ — הַמַּטֹּת֙ the–staffs מִלִּפְנֵ֣י — מִלִּפְנֵ֣י from–before יְהוָ֔ה — יְהוָ֔ה YHWH אֶֽל־ — אֶֽל־ to– כָּל־ — כָּל־ all– בְּנֵ֖י — בְּנֵ֖י sons-of יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל — יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל Yisrael וַיִּרְא֥וּ — וַיִּרְא֥וּ and–saw וַיִּקְח֖וּ — וַיִּקְח֖וּ and–took אִ֥ישׁ — אִ֥ישׁ each–man מַטֵּֽהוּ׃ — מַטֵּֽהוּ׃ his–staff ס — ס –
And Moses brought out all the rods from before the Lord unto all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod.
10 וַיֹּ֨אמֶר — וַיֹּ֨אמֶר and–said יְהוָ֜ה — יְהוָ֜ה YHWH אֶל־ — אֶל־ to– מֹשֶׁ֗ה — מֹשֶׁ֗ה Mosheh הָשֵׁ֞ב — הָשֵׁ֞ב return אֶת־ — אֶת־ – מַטֵּ֤ה — מַטֵּ֤ה staff-of אַהֲרֹן֙ — אַהֲרֹן֙ Aharon לִפְנֵ֣י — לִפְנֵ֣י before הָעֵד֔וּת — הָעֵד֔וּת the–testimony לְמִשְׁמֶ֥רֶת — לְמִשְׁמֶ֥רֶת for–keeping לְא֖וֹת — לְא֖וֹת for–a–sign לִבְנֵי־ — לִבְנֵי־ to–sons-of– מֶ֑רִי — מֶ֑רִי rebellion וּתְכַ֧ל — וּתְכַ֧ל and–finish תְּלוּנֹּתָ֛ם — תְּלוּנֹּתָ֛ם their–murmurings מֵעָלַ֖י — מֵעָלַ֖י from–upon–me וְלֹ֥א — וְלֹ֥א and–not יָמֻֽתוּ׃ — יָמֻֽתוּ׃ they–will–die
And the Lord said unto Moses, Bring Aaron’s rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and thou shalt quite take away their murmurings from me, that they die not.
11 וַיַּ֖עַשׂ — וַיַּ֖עַשׂ and–did מֹשֶׁ֑ה — מֹשֶׁ֑ה Mosheh כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר — כַּאֲשֶׁ֨ר as צִוָּ֧ה — צִוָּ֧ה commanded יְהוָ֛ה — יְהוָ֛ה YHWH אֹת֖וֹ — אֹת֖וֹ him כֵּ֥ן — כֵּ֥ן so עָשָֽׂה׃ — עָשָֽׂה׃ he–did ס — ס –
And Moses did so: as the Lord commanded him, so did he.
12 וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ — וַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙ and–said בְּנֵ֣י — בְּנֵ֣י sons-of יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל — יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל Yisrael אֶל־ — אֶל־ to– מֹשֶׁ֖ה — מֹשֶׁ֖ה Mosheh לֵאמֹ֑ר — לֵאמֹ֑ר saying הֵ֥ן — הֵ֥ן behold גָּוַ֛עְנוּ — גָּוַ֛עְנוּ we–perish אָבַ֖דְנוּ — אָבַ֖דְנוּ we–are–lost כֻּלָּ֥נוּ — כֻּלָּ֥נוּ all–of–us אָבָֽדְנוּ׃ — אָבָֽדְנוּ׃ we–are–lost
And the children of Israel spake unto Moses, saying, Behold, we die, we perish, we all perish.
13 כֹּ֣ל — כֹּ֣ל all הַקָּרֵ֧ב ׀ — הַקָּרֵ֧ב ׀ the–approaching הַקָּרֵ֛ב — הַקָּרֵ֛ב approaching אֶל־ — אֶל־ to– מִשְׁכַּ֥ן — מִשְׁכַּ֥ן tabernacle-of יְהוָ֖ה — יְהוָ֖ה YHWH יָמ֑וּת — יָמ֑וּת dies הַאִ֥ם — הַאִ֥ם indeed תַּ֖מְנוּ — תַּ֖מְנוּ are–we–finished לִגְוֺֽעַ׃ — לִגְוֺֽעַ׃ to–perish ס — ס –
Whosoever cometh any thing near unto the tabernacle of the Lord shall die: shall we be consumed with dying?
