And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.
2 וַֽיְהִ֖י — וַֽיְהִ֖י and–it-was בְּנָסְעָ֣ם — בְּנָסְעָ֣ם as–they-journeyed מִקֶּ֑דֶם — מִקֶּ֑דֶם from–east וַֽיִּמְצְא֥וּ — וַֽיִּמְצְא֥וּ and–they-found בִקְעָ֛ה — בִקְעָ֛ה a-valley בְּאֶ֥רֶץ — בְּאֶ֥רֶץ in–land-of שִׁנְעָ֖ר — שִׁנְעָ֖ר Shinar וַיֵּ֥שְׁבוּ — וַיֵּ֥שְׁבוּ and–they-dwelt שָֽׁם׃ — שָֽׁם׃ there
And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.
3 וַיֹּאמְר֞וּ — וַיֹּאמְר֞וּ and–they-said אִ֣ישׁ — אִ֣ישׁ a-man אֶל־ — אֶל־ to רֵעֵ֗הוּ — רֵעֵ֗הוּ his-neighbor הָ֚בָה — הָ֚בָה come נִלְבְּנָ֣ה — נִלְבְּנָ֣ה let-us-make-bricks לְבֵנִ֔ים — לְבֵנִ֔ים bricks וְנִשְׂרְפָ֖ה — וְנִשְׂרְפָ֖ה and–let-us-burn לִשְׂרֵפָ֑ה — לִשְׂרֵפָ֑ה to–burning וַתְּהִ֨י — וַתְּהִ֨י and–it-was לָהֶ֤ם — לָהֶ֤ם to–them הַלְּבֵנָה֙ — הַלְּבֵנָה֙ the–brick לְאָ֔בֶן — לְאָ֔בֶן for–stone וְהַ֣חֵמָ֔ר — וְהַ֣חֵמָ֔ר and–the–bitumen הָיָ֥ה — הָיָ֥ה was לָהֶ֖ם — לָהֶ֖ם to–them לַחֹֽמֶר׃ — לַחֹֽמֶר׃ for–mortar
And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.
4 וַיֹּאמְר֞וּ — וַיֹּאמְר֞וּ and–they-said הָ֣בָה ׀ — הָ֣בָה ׀ come נִבְנֶה־ — נִבְנֶה־ let-us-build לָּ֣נוּ — לָּ֣נוּ for–us עִ֗יר — עִ֗יר a-city וּמִגְדָּל֙ — וּמִגְדָּל֙ and–a-tower וְרֹאשׁ֣וֹ — וְרֹאשׁ֣וֹ and–its-top בַשָּׁמַ֔יִם — בַשָּׁמַ֔יִם in–the–heavens וְנַֽעֲשֶׂה־ — וְנַֽעֲשֶׂה־ and–let-us-make לָּ֖נוּ — לָּ֖נוּ for–us שֵׁ֑ם — שֵׁ֑ם a-name פֶּן־ — פֶּן־ lest נָפ֖וּץ — נָפ֖וּץ we-be-scattered עַל־ — עַל־ upon פְּנֵ֥י — פְּנֵ֥י face-of כָל־ — כָל־ all הָאָֽרֶץ׃ — הָאָֽרֶץ׃ the–earth
And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
5 וַיֵּ֣רֶד — וַיֵּ֣רֶד and–came-down יְהוָ֔ה — יְהוָ֔ה YHWH לִרְאֹ֥ת — לִרְאֹ֥ת to–see אֶת־ — אֶת־ – הָעִ֖יר — הָעִ֖יר the–city וְאֶת־ — וְאֶת־ and– הַמִּגְדָּ֑ל — הַמִּגְדָּ֑ל the–tower אֲשֶׁ֥ר — אֲשֶׁ֥ר which בָּנ֖וּ — בָּנ֖וּ built בְּנֵ֥י — בְּנֵ֥י sons-of הָאָדָֽם׃ — הָאָדָֽם׃ the–man
And the Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
6 וַיֹּ֣אמֶר — וַיֹּ֣אמֶר and–said יְהוָ֗ה — יְהוָ֗ה YHWH הֵ֣ן — הֵ֣ן behold עַ֤ם — עַ֤ם people אֶחָד֙ — אֶחָד֙ one וְשָׂפָ֤ה — וְשָׂפָ֤ה and–language אַחַת֙ — אַחַת֙ one לְכֻלָּ֔ם — לְכֻלָּ֔ם for–all-of-them וְזֶ֖ה — וְזֶ֖ה and–this הַחִלָּ֣ם — הַחִלָּ֣ם their-beginning לַעֲשׂ֑וֹת — לַעֲשׂ֑וֹת to–do וְעַתָּה֙ — וְעַתָּה֙ and–now לֹֽא־ — לֹֽא־ not יִבָּצֵ֣ר — יִבָּצֵ֣ר will-be-withheld מֵהֶ֔ם — מֵהֶ֔ם from–them כֹּ֛ל — כֹּ֛ל all אֲשֶׁ֥ר — אֲשֶׁ֥ר which יָזְמ֖וּ — יָזְמ֖וּ they-plan לַֽעֲשֽׂוֹת׃ — לַֽעֲשֽׂוֹת׃ to–do
And the Lord said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.
7 הָ֚בָה — הָ֚בָה come נֵֽרְדָ֔ה — נֵֽרְדָ֔ה let-us-go-down וְנָבְלָ֥ה — וְנָבְלָ֥ה and–let-us-confuse שָׁ֖ם — שָׁ֖ם there שְׂפָתָ֑ם — שְׂפָתָ֑ם their-language אֲשֶׁר֙ — אֲשֶׁר֙ that לֹ֣א — לֹ֣א not יִשְׁמְע֔וּ — יִשְׁמְע֔וּ they-will-hear אִ֖ישׁ — אִ֖ישׁ a-man שְׂפַ֥ת — שְׂפַ֥ת language-of רֵעֵֽהוּ׃ — רֵעֵֽהוּ׃ his-neighbor
Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.
8 וַיָּ֨פֶץ — וַיָּ֨פֶץ and–scattered יְהוָ֥ה — יְהוָ֥ה YHWH אֹתָ֛ם — אֹתָ֛ם them מִשָּׁ֖ם — מִשָּׁ֖ם from–there עַל־ — עַל־ upon פְּנֵ֣י — פְּנֵ֣י face-of כָל־ — כָל־ all הָאָ֑רֶץ — הָאָ֑רֶץ the–earth וַֽיַּחְדְּל֖וּ — וַֽיַּחְדְּל֖וּ and–they-ceased לִבְנֹ֥ת — לִבְנֹ֥ת to–build הָעִֽיר׃ — הָעִֽיר׃ the–city
So the Lord scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.
9 עַל־ — עַל־ upon כֵּ֞ן — כֵּ֞ן thus קָרָ֤א — קָרָ֤א he-called שְׁמָהּ֙ — שְׁמָהּ֙ its-name בָּבֶ֔ל — בָּבֶ֔ל Babel כִּי־ — כִּי־ for שָׁ֛ם — שָׁ֛ם there בָּלַ֥ל — בָּלַ֥ל confused יְהוָ֖ה — יְהוָ֖ה YHWH שְׂפַ֣ת — שְׂפַ֣ת language-of כָּל־ — כָּל־ all הָאָ֑רֶץ — הָאָ֑רֶץ the–earth וּמִשָּׁם֙ — וּמִשָּׁם֙ and–from–there הֱפִיצָ֣ם — הֱפִיצָ֣ם scattered-them יְהוָ֔ה — יְהוָ֔ה YHWH עַל־ — עַל־ upon פְּנֵ֖י — פְּנֵ֖י face-of כָּל־ — כָּל־ all הָאָֽרֶץ׃ — הָאָֽרֶץ׃ the–earth פ — פ P
Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth.
10 אֵ֚לֶּה — אֵ֚לֶּה these תּוֹלְדֹ֣ת — תּוֹלְדֹ֣ת generations-of שֵׁ֔ם — שֵׁ֔ם Shem שֵׁ֚ם — שֵׁ֚ם Shem בֶּן־ — בֶּן־ son-of מְאַ֣ת — מְאַ֣ת hundred שָׁנָ֔ה — שָׁנָ֔ה year וַיּ֖וֹלֶד — וַיּ֖וֹלֶד and–he-begot אֶת־ — אֶת־ – אַרְפַּכְשָׁ֑ד — אַרְפַּכְשָׁ֑ד Arpachshad שְׁנָתַ֖יִם — שְׁנָתַ֖יִם two-years אַחַ֥ר — אַחַ֥ר after הַמַּבּֽוּל׃ — הַמַּבּֽוּל׃ the–flood
These are the generations of Shem: Shem was an hundred years old, and begat Arphaxad two years after the flood:
11 וַֽיְחִי־ — וַֽיְחִי־ and–lived שֵׁ֗ם — שֵׁ֗ם Shem אַֽחֲרֵי֙ — אַֽחֲרֵי֙ after הוֹלִיד֣וֹ — הוֹלִיד֣וֹ his-begetting אֶת־ — אֶת־ – אַרְפַּכְשָׁ֔ד — אַרְפַּכְשָׁ֔ד Arpachshad חֲמֵ֥שׁ — חֲמֵ֥שׁ five מֵא֖וֹת — מֵא֖וֹת hundred שָׁנָ֑ה — שָׁנָ֑ה year וַיּ֥וֹלֶד — וַיּ֥וֹלֶד and–he-begot בָּנִ֖ים — בָּנִ֖ים sons וּבָנֽוֹת׃ — וּבָנֽוֹת׃ and–daughters ס — ס S
And Shem lived after he begat Arphaxad five hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.
12 וְאַרְפַּכְשַׁ֣ד — וְאַרְפַּכְשַׁ֣ד and–Arpachshad חַ֔י — חַ֔י lived חָמֵ֥שׁ — חָמֵ֥שׁ five וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֖ים — וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֖ים and–thirty שָׁנָ֑ה — שָׁנָ֑ה year וַיּ֖וֹלֶד — וַיּ֖וֹלֶד and–he-begot אֶת־ — אֶת־ – שָֽׁלַח׃ — שָֽׁלַח׃ Shelah
And Arphaxad lived five and thirty years, and begat Salah:
13 וַֽיְחִ֣י — וַֽיְחִ֣י and–lived אַרְפַּכְשַׁ֗ד — אַרְפַּכְשַׁ֗ד Arpachshad אַֽחֲרֵי֙ — אַֽחֲרֵי֙ after הוֹלִיד֣וֹ — הוֹלִיד֣וֹ his-begetting אֶת־ — אֶת־ – שֶׁ֔לַח — שֶׁ֔לַח Shelah שָׁלֹ֣שׁ — שָׁלֹ֣שׁ three שָׁנִ֔ים — שָׁנִ֔ים years וְאַרְבַּ֥ע — וְאַרְבַּ֥ע and–four מֵא֖וֹת — מֵא֖וֹת hundred שָׁנָ֑ה — שָׁנָ֑ה year וַיּ֥וֹלֶד — וַיּ֥וֹלֶד and–he-begot בָּנִ֖ים — בָּנִ֖ים sons וּבָנֽוֹת׃ — וּבָנֽוֹת׃ and–daughters ס — ס S
And Arphaxad lived after he begat Salah four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.
14 וְשֶׁ֥לַח — וְשֶׁ֥לַח and–Shelah חַ֖י — חַ֖י lived שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים — שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים thirty שָׁנָ֑ה — שָׁנָ֑ה year וַיּ֖וֹלֶד — וַיּ֖וֹלֶד and–he-begot אֶת־ — אֶת־ – עֵֽבֶר׃ — עֵֽבֶר׃ Eber
And Salah lived thirty years, and begat Eber:
15 וַֽיְחִי־ — וַֽיְחִי־ and–lived שֶׁ֗לַח — שֶׁ֗לַח Shelah אַחֲרֵי֙ — אַחֲרֵי֙ after הוֹלִיד֣וֹ — הוֹלִיד֣וֹ his-begetting אֶת־ — אֶת־ – עֵ֔בֶר — עֵ֔בֶר Eber שָׁלֹ֣שׁ — שָׁלֹ֣שׁ three שָׁנִ֔ים — שָׁנִ֔ים years וְאַרְבַּ֥ע — וְאַרְבַּ֥ע and–four מֵא֖וֹת — מֵא֖וֹת hundred שָׁנָ֑ה — שָׁנָ֑ה year וַיּ֥וֹלֶד — וַיּ֥וֹלֶד and–he-begot בָּנִ֖ים — בָּנִ֖ים sons וּבָנֽוֹת׃ — וּבָנֽוֹת׃ and–daughters ס — ס S
And Salah lived after he begat Eber four hundred and three years, and begat sons and daughters.
16 וַֽיְחִי־ — וַֽיְחִי־ and–lived עֵ֕בֶר — עֵ֕בֶר Eber אַרְבַּ֥ע — אַרְבַּ֥ע four וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֖ים — וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֖ים and–thirty שָׁנָ֑ה — שָׁנָ֑ה year וַיּ֖וֹלֶד — וַיּ֖וֹלֶד and–he-begot אֶת־ — אֶת־ – פָּֽלֶג׃ — פָּֽלֶג׃ Peleg
And Eber lived four and thirty years, and begat Peleg:
17 וַֽיְחִי־ — וַֽיְחִי־ and–lived עֵ֗בֶר — עֵ֗בֶר Eber אַחֲרֵי֙ — אַחֲרֵי֙ after הוֹלִיד֣וֹ — הוֹלִיד֣וֹ his-begetting אֶת־ — אֶת־ – פֶּ֔לֶג — פֶּ֔לֶג Peleg שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים — שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים thirty שָׁנָ֔ה — שָׁנָ֔ה year וְאַרְבַּ֥ע — וְאַרְבַּ֥ע and–four מֵא֖וֹת — מֵא֖וֹת hundred שָׁנָ֑ה — שָׁנָ֑ה year וַיּ֥וֹלֶד — וַיּ֥וֹלֶד and–he-begot בָּנִ֖ים — בָּנִ֖ים sons וּבָנֽוֹת׃ — וּבָנֽוֹת׃ and–daughters ס — ס S
And Eber lived after he begat Peleg four hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters.
18 וַֽיְחִי־ — וַֽיְחִי־ and–lived פֶ֖לֶג — פֶ֖לֶג Peleg שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים — שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים thirty שָׁנָ֑ה — שָׁנָ֑ה year וַיּ֖וֹלֶד — וַיּ֖וֹלֶד and–he-begot אֶת־ — אֶת־ – רְעֽוּ׃ — רְעֽוּ׃ Reu
And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu:
19 וַֽיְחִי־ — וַֽיְחִי־ and–lived פֶ֗לֶג — פֶ֗לֶג Peleg אַחֲרֵי֙ — אַחֲרֵי֙ after הוֹלִיד֣וֹ — הוֹלִיד֣וֹ his-begetting אֶת־ — אֶת־ – רְע֔וּ — רְע֔וּ Reu תֵּ֥שַׁע — תֵּ֥שַׁע nine שָׁנִ֖ים — שָׁנִ֖ים years וּמָאתַ֣יִם — וּמָאתַ֣יִם and–two-hundred שָׁנָ֑ה — שָׁנָ֑ה year וַיּ֥וֹלֶד — וַיּ֥וֹלֶד and–he-begot בָּנִ֖ים — בָּנִ֖ים sons וּבָנֽוֹת׃ — וּבָנֽוֹת׃ and–daughters ס — ס S
And Peleg lived after he begat Reu two hundred and nine years, and begat sons and daughters.
20 וַיְחִ֣י — וַיְחִ֣י and–lived רְע֔וּ — רְע֔וּ Reu שְׁתַּ֥יִם — שְׁתַּ֥יִם two וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֖ים — וּשְׁלֹשִׁ֖ים and–thirty שָׁנָ֑ה — שָׁנָ֑ה year וַיּ֖וֹלֶד — וַיּ֖וֹלֶד and–he-begot אֶת־ — אֶת־ – שְׂרֽוּג׃ — שְׂרֽוּג׃ Serug
And Reu lived two and thirty years, and begat Serug:
21 וַיְחִ֣י — וַיְחִ֣י and–lived רְע֗וּ — רְע֗וּ Reu אַחֲרֵי֙ — אַחֲרֵי֙ after הוֹלִיד֣וֹ — הוֹלִיד֣וֹ his-begetting אֶת־ — אֶת־ – שְׂר֔וּג — שְׂר֔וּג Serug שֶׁ֥בַע — שֶׁ֥בַע seven שָׁנִ֖ים — שָׁנִ֖ים years וּמָאתַ֣יִם — וּמָאתַ֣יִם and–two-hundred שָׁנָ֑ה — שָׁנָ֑ה year וַיּ֥וֹלֶד — וַיּ֥וֹלֶד and–he-begot בָּנִ֖ים — בָּנִ֖ים sons וּבָנֽוֹת׃ — וּבָנֽוֹת׃ and–daughters ס — ס S
And Reu lived after he begat Serug two hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters.
22 וַיְחִ֥י — וַיְחִ֥י and–lived שְׂר֖וּג — שְׂר֖וּג Serug שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים — שְׁלֹשִׁ֣ים thirty שָׁנָ֑ה — שָׁנָ֑ה year וַיּ֖וֹלֶד — וַיּ֖וֹלֶד and–he-begot אֶת־ — אֶת־ – נָחֽוֹר׃ — נָחֽוֹר׃ Nahor
And Serug lived thirty years, and begat Nahor:
23 וַיְחִ֣י — וַיְחִ֣י and–lived שְׂר֗וּג — שְׂר֗וּג Serug אַחֲרֵ֛י — אַחֲרֵ֛י after הוֹלִיד֥וֹ — הוֹלִיד֥וֹ his-begetting אֶת־ — אֶת־ – נָח֖וֹר — נָח֖וֹר Nahor מָאתַ֣יִם — מָאתַ֣יִם two-hundred שָׁנָ֑ה — שָׁנָ֑ה year וַיּ֥וֹלֶד — וַיּ֥וֹלֶד and–he-begot בָּנִ֖ים — בָּנִ֖ים sons וּבָנֽוֹת׃ — וּבָנֽוֹת׃ and–daughters ס — ס S
And Serug lived after he begat Nahor two hundred years, and begat sons and daughters.
24 וַיְחִ֣י — וַיְחִ֣י and–lived נָח֔וֹר — נָח֔וֹר Nahor תֵּ֥שַׁע — תֵּ֥שַׁע nine וְעֶשְׂרִ֖ים — וְעֶשְׂרִ֖ים and–twenty שָׁנָ֑ה — שָׁנָ֑ה year וַיּ֖וֹלֶד — וַיּ֖וֹלֶד and–he-begot אֶת־ — אֶת־ – תָּֽרַח׃ — תָּֽרַח׃ Terah
And Nahor lived nine and twenty years, and begat Terah:
25 וַיְחִ֣י — וַיְחִ֣י and–lived נָח֗וֹר — נָח֗וֹר Nahor אַחֲרֵי֙ — אַחֲרֵי֙ after הוֹלִיד֣וֹ — הוֹלִיד֣וֹ his-begetting אֶת־ — אֶת־ – תֶּ֔רַח — תֶּ֔רַח Terah תְּשַֽׁע־ — תְּשַֽׁע־ nine עֶשְׂרֵ֥ה — עֶשְׂרֵ֥ה ten שָׁנָ֖ה — שָׁנָ֖ה year וּמְאַ֣ת — וּמְאַ֣ת and–hundred שָׁנָ֑ה — שָׁנָ֑ה year וַיּ֥וֹלֶד — וַיּ֥וֹלֶד and–he-begot בָּנִ֖ים — בָּנִ֖ים sons וּבָנֽוֹת׃ — וּבָנֽוֹת׃ and–daughters ס — ס S
And Nahor lived after he begat Terah an hundred and nineteen years, and begat sons and daughters.
26 וַֽיְחִי־ — וַֽיְחִי־ and–lived תֶ֖רַח — תֶ֖רַח Terah שִׁבְעִ֣ים — שִׁבְעִ֣ים seventy שָׁנָ֑ה — שָׁנָ֑ה year וַיּ֙וֹלֶד֙ — וַיּ֙וֹלֶד֙ and–he-begot אֶת־ — אֶת־ – אַבְרָ֔ם — אַבְרָ֔ם Abram אֶת־ — אֶת־ – נָח֖וֹר — נָח֖וֹר Nahor וְאֶת־ — וְאֶת־ and– הָרָֽן׃ — הָרָֽן׃ Haran
And Terah lived seventy years, and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
27 וְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ — וְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ and–these תּוֹלְדֹ֣ת — תּוֹלְדֹ֣ת generations-of תֶּ֔רַח — תֶּ֔רַח Terah תֶּ֚רַח — תֶּ֚רַח Terah הוֹלִ֣יד — הוֹלִ֣יד begot אֶת־ — אֶת־ – אַבְרָ֔ם — אַבְרָ֔ם Abram אֶת־ — אֶת־ – נָח֖וֹר — נָח֖וֹר Nahor וְאֶת־ — וְאֶת־ and– הָרָ֑ן — הָרָ֑ן Haran וְהָרָ֖ן — וְהָרָ֖ן and–Haran הוֹלִ֥יד — הוֹלִ֥יד begot אֶת־ — אֶת־ – לֽוֹט׃ — לֽוֹט׃ Lot
Now these are the generations of Terah: Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran; and Haran begat Lot.
28 וַיָּ֣מָת — וַיָּ֣מָת and–died הָרָ֔ן — הָרָ֔ן Haran עַל־ — עַל־ upon פְּנֵ֖י — פְּנֵ֖י face-of תֶּ֣רַח — תֶּ֣רַח Terah אָבִ֑יו — אָבִ֑יו his-father בְּאֶ֥רֶץ — בְּאֶ֥רֶץ in–land-of מוֹלַדְתּ֖וֹ — מוֹלַדְתּ֖וֹ his-birth בְּא֥וּר — בְּא֥וּר in–Ur כַּשְׂדִּֽים׃ — כַּשְׂדִּֽים׃ of–the–Chaldeans
And Haran died before his father Terah in the land of his nativity, in Ur of the Chaldees.
29 וַיִּקַּ֨ח — וַיִּקַּ֨ח and–took אַבְרָ֧ם — אַבְרָ֧ם Abram וְנָח֛וֹר — וְנָח֛וֹר and–Nahor לָהֶ֖ם — לָהֶ֖ם for–them נָשִׁ֑ים — נָשִׁ֑ים wives שֵׁ֤ם — שֵׁ֤ם name-of אֵֽשֶׁת־ — אֵֽשֶׁת־ wife-of אַבְרָם֙ — אַבְרָם֙ Abram שָׂרָ֔י — שָׂרָ֔י Sarai וְשֵׁ֤ם — וְשֵׁ֤ם and–name-of אֵֽשֶׁת־ — אֵֽשֶׁת־ wife-of נָחוֹר֙ — נָחוֹר֙ Nahor מִלְכָּ֔ה — מִלְכָּ֔ה Milcah בַּת־ — בַּת־ daughter-of הָרָ֥ן — הָרָ֥ן Haran אֲבִֽי־ — אֲבִֽי־ father-of מִלְכָּ֖ה — מִלְכָּ֖ה Milcah וַֽאֲבִ֥י — וַֽאֲבִ֥י and–father-of יִסְכָּֽה׃ — יִסְכָּֽה׃ Iscah
And Abram and Nahor took them wives: the name of Abram’s wife was Sarai; and the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, the daughter of Haran, the father of Milcah, and the father of Iscah.
30 וַתְּהִ֥י — וַתְּהִ֥י and–was שָׂרַ֖י — שָׂרַ֖י Sarai עֲקָרָ֑ה — עֲקָרָ֑ה barren אֵ֥ין — אֵ֥ין there-was-not לָ֖הּ — לָ֖הּ to–her וָלָֽד׃ — וָלָֽד׃ a-child
But Sarai was barren; she had no child.
31 וַיִּקַּ֨ח — וַיִּקַּ֨ח and–took תֶּ֜רַח — תֶּ֜רַח Terah אֶת־ — אֶת־ – אַבְרָ֣ם — אַבְרָ֣ם Abram בְּנ֗וֹ — בְּנ֗וֹ his-son וְאֶת־ — וְאֶת־ and– ל֤וֹט — ל֤וֹט Lot בֶּן־ — בֶּן־ son-of הָרָן֙ — הָרָן֙ Haran בֶּן־ — בֶּן־ son-of בְּנ֔וֹ — בְּנ֔וֹ his-son וְאֵת֙ — וְאֵת֙ and– שָׂרַ֣י — שָׂרַ֣י Sarai כַּלָּת֔וֹ — כַּלָּת֔וֹ his-daughter-in-law אֵ֖שֶׁת — אֵ֖שֶׁת wife-of אַבְרָ֣ם — אַבְרָ֣ם Abram בְּנ֑וֹ — בְּנ֑וֹ his-son וַיֵּצְא֨וּ — וַיֵּצְא֨וּ and–they-went-out אִתָּ֜ם — אִתָּ֜ם with–them מֵא֣וּר — מֵא֣וּר from–Ur כַּשְׂדִּ֗ים — כַּשְׂדִּ֗ים of–the–Chaldeans לָלֶ֙כֶת֙ — לָלֶ֙כֶת֙ to–go אַ֣רְצָה — אַ֣רְצָה to–land-of כְּנַ֔עַן — כְּנַ֔עַן Canaan וַיָּבֹ֥אוּ — וַיָּבֹ֥אוּ and–they-came עַד־ — עַד־ unto חָרָ֖ן — חָרָ֖ן Haran וַיֵּ֥שְׁבוּ — וַיֵּ֥שְׁבוּ and–they-dwelt שָֽׁם׃ — שָֽׁם׃ there
And Terah took Abram his son, and Lot the son of Haran his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter in law, his son Abram’s wife; and they went forth with them from Ur of the Chaldees, to go into the land of Canaan; and they came unto Haran, and dwelt there.
32 וַיִּהְי֣וּ — וַיִּהְי֣וּ and–were יְמֵי־ — יְמֵי־ days-of תֶ֔רַח — תֶ֔רַח Terah חָמֵ֥שׁ — חָמֵ֥שׁ five שָׁנִ֖ים — שָׁנִ֖ים years וּמָאתַ֣יִם — וּמָאתַ֣יִם and–two-hundred שָׁנָ֑ה — שָׁנָ֑ה year וַיָּ֥מָת — וַיָּ֥מָת and–died תֶּ֖רַח — תֶּ֖רַח Terah בְּחָרָֽן׃ — בְּחָרָֽן׃ in–Haran ס — ס S
And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years: and Terah died in Haran.
